  • Patent number: 6272910
Abstract: A measurement platform for an overhead cam shaft type internal combustion engine having at least one piston reciprocable within a cylinder formed in a block; an intake valve and an exhaust valve for the cylinder, wherein intake and exhaust cam lobes on the cam shaft engage upper ends of respective intake and exhaust valve stems, the platform comprising at least one relatively rigid bridge component including a pair of mounting flanges at opposite ends thereof, the mounting flanges having fastener holes aligned with fastener holes in the engine head on opposite sides of the cam shaft, the relatively rigid bridge having a plurality of holes therein adapted to support one or more measuring devices adapted to engage the intake and exhaust cam lobes on the camshaft.

  • Patent number: 5906347
Abstract: A drive shaft containment bracket adapted for attachment to a stationary vehicle support surface, the bracket including an elongated body having a mounting flange at one end and a drive shaft containment device at an opposite end. The elongated body has a length dimension sufficient to extend from a vehicle cross frame member supporting the transmission of the vehicle where said mounting flange is utilized to secure said bracket to the cross frame member and transmission casing, rearwardly beyond a universal joint connecting the drive shaft to the transmission to a location along the drive shaft where said containment device at least partially encloses said drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 5827954
Abstract: A measurement platform assembly for degreeing a camshaft of an internal combustion engine having at least one piston reciprocable within a cylinder formed in a block, an intake valve and an exhaust valve and respective intake lifter and exhaust lifter associated with the cylinder, the tool comprising a plate having plural holes sized and arranged to permit fastening of the plate to the engine block via bolt holes in the block; the plate mounting three gauges, one of which is adapted to engage the piston and two of which are adapted to engage respective substitute exhaust and inlet lifters, the gauges adapted to measure movement of the piston and substitute exhaust and inlet lifters as the camshaft rotates.

  • Patent number: 5270136
Abstract: An acid-neutralizing battery mat is produced that is useful in preventing or reducing corrosion caused by leaking batteries. The mat is placed underneath a wet cell storage battery and is designed to absorb and neutralize acid which may escape from the battery. The mat is comprised of a porous fibrous base material of needled polypropylene felt which is impregnated with an alkaline substance and a polymer binder. The mat has a sufficient absorbency so that as the acid reaches the mat, it is disbursed throughout a wide area and neutralized by the alkaline substance. The dimensions of the mat are such that a portion of the mat extends beyond at least one bottom edge of the battery. The mat not only protects against acid induced corrosion but also protects the environment from acid contaminants.
