  • Patent number: 9772414
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of methods and systems for optimizing the analysis of the source locations of microseismic sources, comprising recording microseismic data using patches of sensors. Each patch contains multiple sensors, arranged as a grid or a line segment. This approach uses fewer sensors and can cover a larger area than previous techniques for acquiring microseismic data. The data recorded in this way can be filtered using directional filters, such that each patch may be targeted at a specific point in the subsurface. The microseismic source-scanning algorithm benefits from having data filtered to include directional signals only from pairs of patch locations and subsurface locations. This produces an improved estimate of the locations of microseismic events. The patches may be disposed about a horizontal well bore, and aligned such that directional filtering enhances data from hydraulic fracturing operations in the wellbore.

  • Patent number: 9636586
Abstract: In a method for selecting a game element of a game and adjusting the game element during execution of the game, a processor retrieves a plurality of received game element feedback data from a plurality of users of a game, wherein the plurality of received game element feedback data was selected from a list of possible game elements. A processor selects the game element to be adjusted, based upon the plurality of received game element feedback data. A processor causes the game element to be adjusted during execution of the game.

  • Patent number: 9395456
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of methods and systems for optimizing signals generated by microseismic sources, comprising recording microseismic data using patches of geophones, filtering the data to impart a directionality to the data, and performing a source scan to determine the times and locations of microseismic events. The subsurface is divided into a voxel grid that is further subdivided into subgrids. Using a filter designed for each patch-subgrid pair, only data arriving within a predetermined angle of incidence are input to the source scan, thus reducing noise, and enhancing the quality and accuracy of the identified microseismic events. The method is also applicable to data previously recorded with sensor grids or other arrays such as star arrays.

  • Publication number: 20140019057
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments of discriminating between small microseismic events and false events comprising identifying candidate events, and creating sub-stacks of the microseismic data traces. Analysis of the sub-stacks shows distinct differences between real microseismic events and false events created by noise bursts. Further discrimination between real and false events is achieved by visual or automated analysis of the reverberations and patterns of polarity reversal associated with real microseismic events, which are more clearly visible in the sub-stacks than in the raw microseismic data. The methods described herein are applicable to surface, downhole and buried array microseismic data.

  • Patent number: 7240326
Abstract: CIM elements are retrieved from the management definition object and a determination is made as to whether the element is a non-instance element or an instance element. If the element is a non-instance element and a qualifier is found in the management object, then the corresponding name is used. If the qualifier is not found, then the CIM element name is used. If the element is an instance element and a qualifier is found then the name corresponding to the qualifier is used. If there is no qualifier then a determination is made as to the number of non-propagated key properties. If there is one non-propagated key property then the value of the property is used. If there are more than one non-propagated key properties, then a display name is constructed from each non-propagated key property and its corresponding value.

  • Patent number: 7191404
Abstract: A generic management definition object, described using a CIM MOF file or an Extensible Markup Language document, can be used to format display panels that are independent of a management console. A generic integration layer is created between the management data and the display and behavior of such data. A transformation engine is used to convert data definitions included in management data to a formatted structure that is stored in a repository. A translation engine renders the formatted structure into graphical user interface constructs that are independent of any particular management console architecture. The transformation and translation engines coordinate a set of processes that facilitate the display and manipulation of the management data object's data model. GUI display panels that support the management model are generated in a console neutral manner so that the same panels are displayed from a variety of management consoles.

  • Patent number: 7177793
Abstract: NLS translations can be provided by extracting translatable strings from the management definition object, such as a CIM MOF file, and writing the strings into one or more translation files. A unique identifier is assigned to each translatable string. The identifier is included in the management definition object as well as the various translation files. By creating unique identifiers, a particular translated string can be found in one of the translation files. In this manner, different users can specify different languages. Display text is retrieved by retrieving the identifier located in the management definition object. The translation file corresponding to the user's preferred language is then searched for the translated string. Translated strings can be gathered for display panels when the product is packaged. Translated strings can also be gathered at runtime when called for by a particular display panel or other display object.

  • Patent number: 7065744
Abstract: A system and method for converting management models to specific console interfaces is provided. A plug-in builder process is used to read a management definition object. The plug-in builder process derives display information and method information from the management definition object. Console interface information is used to take the management definition object and transform it into a format suitable for the selected consoles. The management definition object information includes information used to display tree nodes in a management console. The plug-in builder process retrieves methods from the management definition object that corresponds to the displayed nodes. In this manner, when a user selects a tree node from a management console, the method included in the management definition object that was written to support the displayed node is executed. National language files can be used by the plug-in builder process in order to support various national languages used by users.

  • Publication number: 20050188881
Abstract: A shotgun shell flight path indicator is described which in general includes a shell casing having a primer end having a primer, a propellant disposed within the interior of the casing proximate to the primer adapted for ignition by the primer, and a non-combustible indicator positioned within the casing. The indicator generally includes a base positioned proximate to the propellant where the base has a sufficient mass and size for unaided observation following discharge from a shotgun barrel. The indicator may include ballast integral to the base and pedals extending outwardly from the base to assist in aerodynamic drafting behind expelled shot to visually represent the flight trajectory of the expelled shot of a shotgun shell. The indicator may further include a plug disposed in the casing between the ballast and the propellant where the plug is adapted to compact the ballast within a ballast pocket integral to the base upon discharge of the shotgun shell to reduce peak barrel pressure for a shotgun.

  • Patent number: 6857344
Abstract: A grooving tool includes a spindle rotatable about a longitudinal axis thereof and having at least one coolant inlet port, a ramp portion, and a fluid flow path to the ramp portion; a tool bit moveably coupled to the ramped portion, the tool bit comprising one or more teeth and one or more coolant channels to supply coolant proximate the one or more teeth, the one or more coolant channels operatively connected to the fluid flow path; wherein movement of the tool bit along the ramp portion toward the inlet port causes the one or more teeth to be displaced outward from the longitudinal axis. The fluid flow path may include a longitudinal passage in the spindle disposed generally along the longitudinal axis. The coolant channels may be angled with respect to the teeth and dispense coolant supplied via the fluid flow path toward the teeth.

  • Publication number: 20030135661
Abstract: A plug-in builder process is performed using a management definition object. A management definition object is evaluated. The results of the evaluation may include one or more panel files that display information pertaining to the product corresponding to the management definition object and may also include extraction of translatable strings from the management model. Translatable strings are stored in translation template files for translation into national languages. Target consoles are selected representing those consoles for which plug-in data is created which allows the target consoles to interface with display information and methods included in the management definition object. Console plug-in data that describes the interfaces used by the selected target consoles is read in order to generate plug-in code that will interface with the selected consoles. The plug-in code, display panels, and national language translations are packaged onto a distributable media that is installed by customers.
