  • Publication number: 20070164059
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a powder delivery device, comprising a housing ; a plunger contained in the housing; and a dispenser component attached to an end of the housing and comprising a reservoir containing powder material; a gating component comprising a first gate having a closed end and an open end, and a second gate; a metering area between the first gate and the second gate; and one or more orifices; the gating component having a first position wherein the second gate is closed and the open end of the first gate permits the powder material to enter the metering area from the reservoir; and a second position wherein the second gate is open and the closed end of the first gate permits the powder material in the metering area to enter the housing and exit the device through the orifices. The device of the present invention can accurately dispense preselected volumes of powdered materials, such as clotting agents for wound treatment.

  • Publication number: 20070160653
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a hemostatic textile, comprising: a material comprising a combination of glass fibers and one or more secondary fibers selected from the group consisting of silk fibers; ceramic fibers; raw or regenerated bamboo fibers; cotton fibers; rayon fibers; linen fibers; ramie fibers; jute fibers; sisal fibers; flax fibers; soybean fibers; corn fibers; hemp fibers; lyocel fibers; wool; lactide and/or glycolide polymers; lactide/glycolide copolymers; silicate fibers; polyamide fibers; feldspar fibers; zeolite fibers, zeolite-containing fibers, acetate fibers; and combinations thereof; the hemostatic textile capable of activating hemostatic systems in the body when applied to a wound. Additional cofactors such as thrombin and hemostatic agents such as RL platelets, RL blood cells; fibrin, fibrinogen, and combinations thereof may also be incorporated into the textile. The invention is also directed to methods of producing the textile, and methods of using the textile to stop bleeding.

  • Patent number: 6687571
Abstract: A miniature mobile robot provides a relatively inexpensive mobile robot. A mobile robot for searching an area provides a way for multiple mobile robots in cooperating teams. A robotic system with a team of mobile robots communicating information among each other provides a way to locate a source in cooperation. A mobile robot with a sensor, a communication system, and a processor, provides a way to execute a strategy for searching an area.

  • Patent number: 5109142
Abstract: Single pole circuit breakers are connected in a modular array to provide up to four poles by means of a handle tie bar assembly. The circuit breaker operating handles are grooved to receive a metal interlocking pin and a plastic tie bar to cause the circuit breakers to move in unison. A locking clip arranged between one of the operating handle slots and the tie bar assembly prevents the circuit breakers from being turned from their OFF-to-ON or ON-to-OFF conditions.

  • Patent number: 4624472
Abstract: A coupling mechanism for coupling a plurality of fluid and electrical lines between adjacent coupled vehicles wherein a plurality of elongated flexible fluid lines and electrical lines are grouped together to form a single elongated flexible group line with one end of the group line connected to respective fluid and electrical sources on one vehicle and the other end of the group line connected to respective fluid and electrical loads on the other vehicle through a single hybrid or combination fluid and electrical plug and socket arrangement. The plug and socket arrangement is comprised of a mounting bracket for the plug and a mounting bracket for the socket, one of which is secured to the second vehicle. The mounting brackets are adapted such that one bracket is readily hung on the other bracket and thereby automatically prealigns the plug and socket for engagement.
