  • Patent number: 4104775
Abstract: An extraction tool, for aiding in the removal of a tubular piece that has been fitted or otherwise bonded in a fitting or second tubular piece, comprising a pair of cone-shaped expander heads threadably mounted on one end on a longitudinally extending rod in axial alignment therewith, at least two expanding jaw segments shaped to surround and bear down upon the expander heads, a finger nut attached to the other end of the rod for rotating same, and a handle. The outer faces of the jaw segments form parts of a generally cylindrical surface having teeth adapted to provide a gripping relation with an interior of a tubular piece when forced thereagainst. The threaded engagement between the rod and expander heads is such that rotating the rod will effect relative movement of the expander heads in an axial and opposite direction.

  • Patent number: 3996689
Abstract: Apparatus for reducing the likelihood that a sinker or other weighting device on a fishing line will become snagged on underwater obstructions includes a hollow receptacle having a cross-section much larger than the cross-section of the sinker. A relatively small aperture is provided in the leading portion of the receptacle, and a large aperture is provided in the trailing end. The fishing line passes through the small aperture in the receptacle to engage the sinker which is inserted into the receptacle through the large aperture. A plurality of elongate, flexible, resilient whiskers project outwardly from the leading portion of the receptacle. The whiskers fend the receptacle off of the underwater obstacles, and the large size of the receptacle minimizes the chances that it will become snagged on such obstacles.

  • Patent number: 3940873
Abstract: A low cost, lightweight hook shield comprising a unitary member fabricated from a flexible material and having two mating body portions joined together along facing edges by an integral hinge. Each body portion is provided with a complementary pad of Velcro on the inner facing surface, the pads serving to releasably secure the mating body portions in a folded attitude and to embrace a barbed hook. The free end of each body portion is provided with a tab-like projection which may be grasped by the fingers of the user to facilitate unfolding of the shield.
