    Abstract: An orifice insert for placement in nuclear steam generator tubes comprises a sleeve having a top end, a bottom end located in use in the vicinity of the opening of the steam generator tube, and a longitudinal axis. An orifice is disposed in and extends the entire length of the sleeve. At least a portion of the outer diameter of the sleeve is substantially the same as the inner diameter of the steam generator tube. The orifice comprises at least a lower and an upper cylindrical portion which are coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the sleeve, wherein the diameter of the upper cylindrical portion is smaller than the diameter of the lower cylindrical portion.
