  • Patent number: 4135270
Abstract: This portable carwash apparatus includes a mobile body carrying a brush support assembly having a forwardly projecting boom carrying the brush, a rearwardly projecting handle and a post, pivotally mounted to the body for swinging movement of the boom and brush by means of the handle between operating positions on either side of the body. A brush drive assembly is mounted to the brush support assembly so that the two assemblies can be lifted from the body as a unit. The body houses a reservoir and a rearwardly disposed power pack and includes spray nozzles on each side for selectively directing cleaning liquid pumped from the reservoir onto the brush. An automatic switching mechanism is provided for the brush drive assembly and pumping assembly so that the brush rotation and spray direction are changed when the brush is moved from one operating position to the other.

  • Patent number: 4121668
Abstract: This cultivator includes a base, which is carried by a pair of ground wheels, and a motor mounted to the base above a pair of auger assemblies. The motor shaft extends rearwardly of the base and the auger assemblies include elongate shafts rotatively mounted within sleeves attached to the base. The motor shaft and the auger shafts are connected at their rear ends by a chain and sprocket drive assembly which provides counter-rotational motion in the two auger shafts. The forward ends of the auger shafts are each provided with a screw and spaced radial tines of progressively increasing length.

  • Patent number: 4090581
Abstract: This vehicle includes a steering system, which is adaptable for use with self-propelled and trailer vehicles to provide a compact, low-profile carrier for both personnel and cargo, and is mounted to the vehicle to ensure a floor and fender system providing optimum carrying capacity. The steering system controls all four wheel units and includes an actuating member mounted to the vehicle body and actuating the wheel units by a swiveling system. The swiveling system incorporates an intermediate rotating mechanism mounted to the body adjacent each wheel unit and within the fender wells, and permits effective swiveling of the wheel units by swiveling system elements located below the floor system and within the fender wells.

  • Patent number: 4024598
Abstract: This cable and pulley system is used for controlling transverse movement of side brushes mounted to a gantry-type vehicle wash and includes a compensating mechanism. The compensating mechanism includes a pair of interconnected articulated arms carrying pulley assemblies at the lower end and the arms can be swung in a transverse direction to permit one side brush to continue to move independently into engagement with the vehicle when the other brush engages the vehicle first.

  • Patent number: 4021877
Abstract: This vehicle washing apparatus includes a pair of side brush assemblies mounted to a gantry, each brush assembly including a shaft carrying upper and lower rotary brush units. The lower brush unit of each assembly is fixedly mounted to its shaft for rotation with the shaft while the upper brush unit is mounted for rotation relative to said shaft by virtue of an adjustable clutch connection between the upper brush unit and the shaft so that said upper unit is subject to slippage when the brush engages a projection on the side of the vehicle. The shaft includes a jointed lower portion carrying an actuating finger which operates a switch to reverse direction of shaft rotation when the lower portion is tilted out of vertical alignment.
