  • Patent number: 4716642
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an extractor tool for removing valve lifters from an engine block or head in a fast convenient manner and with a minimum of manual dexterity or strength. The prior art devices provide tools having complicated force multiplying linkages and camming devices associated with a plurality of groove engaging fingers which are only adapted to engage a single groove or oil hole in the valve lifter body. The present invention overcomes these deficiencies by providing an extractor tool which is adapted to engage multiple grooves within the valve lifter body and assures precise alignment therebetween to eliminate any cocking of the lifter body relative to the extractor tool during removal of the lifter from the enginer block.

  • Patent number: 3970071
Abstract: A surface heater and dryer includes a housing having a skirt for concentrating heat over a large area of the surface and contains a heater and blower for forcing super heated air onto the surface. Mounting structure is connected to the housing for supporting the heater and dryer on a suitable vehicle and adjustments are provided to adjust the position of the heater and dryer to compensate for weight changes and surface variations. Controls are also provided to regulate the temperature and amount of air discharged from the skirt for use of the heater and dryer for diverse purposes requiring different temperatures, and a hot air recirculator and fuel vaporizer are provided with vanes arranged to control the same to further regulate the heat output of the heater and dryer. Also provided is an arrangement of multiple heater and dryer units and accompanying controls for effecting treatment of a correspondingly large surface area.
