Publication number: 20210071365Abstract: The present invention provides for manufacturing processes of structuring fabrics that contain a web contacting layer with seams that do not cause defects in the sheet that can result in sheet breaks during the paper machine process. Structuring fabrics with a web contacting layer that can have damaged sections replaced rather than replacing the entire structuring fabric, which is costly and time consuming, are also provided. Additionally, a process for manufacturing the web contacting layer by laying down polymers of specific material properties in an additive manner under computer control (3-D printing) is provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 3, 2020Publication date: March 11, 2021Inventors: James E. Sealey, II, Byrd Tyler Miller, IV, Zachary John Korkowski, Marc Paul Begin, Andrew James Carlson, Mikhail Tikh, Robert Earl Simon, Nathaniel Michael Peterson

Patent number: 4537570Abstract: An apparatus for lifting a mold top upwardly away from a mold bottom includes a support for the mold bottom, a drive for moving the support horizontally, a frame, and a drive for moving the frame vertically. The frame has two gripping arrangements, movement of the support when the frame is in a lowered position causing the mold top to move to a position between the gripping arrangements, the gripping arrangements engaging vertical side surfaces on the mold top. Subsequent upward movement of the frame lifts the mold top due to engagement of the gripping arrangements with lips provided above the side surfaces. The gripping arrangements each include a roller support member pivotally supported on the frame and two rollers supported on each roller support member for rotation about vertical axes, the rollers rolling on the mold top side surfaces.Type: GrantFiled: October 20, 1983Date of Patent: August 27, 1985Assignee: Pemco-Kalamazoo, Inc.Inventors: John W. Black, Richard D. Shupe, Earl Simon

Patent number: 4424015Abstract: A method and apparatus for injection molding articles from a thermoplastic or similar material. A plurality of molds are mounted on a turntable and are indexed to selected positions as the turntable rotates about its axis of rotation. Radial slots divide the turntable into sectors, each having a mold thereon. A clamping mechanism is provided which successively deflects each sector slightly from the plane of the turntable in order to precisely align the mold thereon with an injection nozzle and then securely clamps the halves of the mold together while the injection nozzle injects moldable material into the cavity in the mold. Interchangeable cavities with different size and shape characteristics are provided in the injection molds and associated with each mold is a resettable indicator designating the particular type of cavity presently installed in that mold.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1981Date of Patent: January 3, 1984Assignee: Pemco-Kalamazoo, Inc.Inventors: John W.
