  • Publication number: 20120232719
Abstract: A system for controlling a marine vessel that includes a sonar depth finder configured to display a chart for a body of water. The chart has depth information for the body of water, and is programmed to allow a user to select from a plurality of depths indicated on the sonar depth finder display. The sonar depth finder further is configured to generate a route for the marine vessel. The route includes a path through the body of water where each point along the path is at the desired depth. The system includes a vessel control device in communication with the sonar depth finder. The vessel control device is configured to receive transmissions from the sonar depth finder. • Publication number: 20110225323
Abstract: A method, system, and computer usable program product for a self-tuning I/O device are provided in the illustrative embodiments. A change is detected in an adapter communicating with the I/O device, the I/O device being a consolidator configured to communicate with the adapter in a data network. A type of the adapter is determined. Values for each parameter in a set of parameters corresponding to the type of the adapter are determined. The values of a first subset of the parameters are applied to the consolidator, applying the values of the first subset causing the consolidator to be configured to operate in a preferred configuration with the adapter.

  • Patent number: 8011510
Abstract: A protective enclosure for displaying, protecting and storing flat items and most preferably to protect, store, and display flat collectible items such as comic books and other printed documents. The protective enclosure is formed of a upper face and lower face foldably connected by a living hinge. The lower face has a protective recess adapted to receive an item to be stored, wherein the upper face and lower face form an interlocking surface around the protective recess when the protective enclosure is in a closed position. A label area also is formed from a upper label area of the upper face and a lower label area of the lower face. The protective enclosure has an interlocking stacking interface adapted for removably receiving an interlocking stacking interface of a second protective enclosure.

  • Patent number: 7721736
Abstract: The portable ventilator of the present invention provides a hands-free ventilatory support device in critical care, emergency, and resource-limited environments. The portable ventilator utilizes ambient air and includes a two dual head compressor system to provide a consistent air supply to the patient. The ventilator device is battery operated and is capable of providing up to 60 minutes of care. In a preferred embodiment, the portable ventilator of the present invention also includes a pneumatic subsystem, a control subsystem, a power subsystem and an alarm subsystem. The portable ventilator of the preferred embodiment includes a dual head and single head compressor system that operates alternatively, to provide a consistent and continuous inhalation and exhalation cycle. A portable ventilator of a second preferred embodiment includes a sole dual-head compressor that operates to provide a consistent and continuous inhalation and exhalation cycle.

  • Publication number: 20080289736
Abstract: A tire is disclosed that includes at least one annular bead wire forming a body of revolution about a reference axis. A carcass ply of generally toroidal shape about the same axis as the bead wire has a portion that is folded around the wire. A materials interface is defined at least in part by the junction between a rubber first mass and a second mass that includes an electronic member. By way of example, the electronic member is a passive radiofrequency identification transponder. The interface extends from a free edge of the folded portion of the carcass ply radially away from the reference axis to a circumferential junction line between the interface and the carcass ply.

  • Publication number: 20070296916
Abstract: A contact lens (10) for use in controlling or retarding the progression of myopia in an eye has a central optical zone (20) approximating the normal diameter of the pupil of the eye (22) that gives clear central vision at distance for the wearer. An annular peripheral optical zone 24 that is substantially outside the diameter of the pupil is formed around the central optical zone (20) with greater refractive power than that of the central zone (22) so that oblique rays entering the eye through the peripheral optical zone (24) will be brought to focus at a focal plane that is substantially on or anterior to the peripheral region of the retina. Preferably, the rear surface (16) of the lens is shaped to conform to the cornea of the eye and the front surface (18) of the lens (10) is shaped to provide—in conjunction with the rear surface (16)—the desired optical properties of the central and peripheral optical zones.

  • Publication number: 20070115431
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for controlling optical aberrations to alter relative curvature of field by providing ocular apparatuses, systems and methods comprising a predetermined corrective factor to produce at least one substantially corrective stimulus for repositioning peripheral, off-axis, focal points relative to the central, on-axis or axial focal point while maintaining the positioning of the central, on-axis or axial focal point on the retina. The invention will be used to provide continuous, useful clear visual images while simultaneously retarding or abating the progression of myopia or hypermetropia.
