Abstract: A system for multispectral imaging and ranging is provided. The system comprises at least one light illumination source, and a focal plane detector array configured to support both passive imaging and active imaging at multiple wavelengths. The focal plane detector array includes a plurality of pixels, wherein each of the pixels comprises a plurality of detectors. The detectors are configured to collect passive light to support passive imaging; collect retro-reflected light, transmitted by the at least one light illumination source, to support active illuminated imaging; and collect retro-reflected light, transmitted by the at least one light illumination source, to support active illuminated ranging.

Abstract: A vehicle system is provided. The vehicle system comprises a weather sensor to provide long-range weather information, including the presence of large particles, where such long-range weather information is configured to be stored in a three dimensional volumetric representation, from which a two dimensional display and hazard information can be derived; a particle sensor to provide short-range weather information about the presence of small and large particles, wherein the particle sensor is able to differentiate between different types and sizes of particles; and at least one user interface configured to communicate weather information derived from the weather sensor and particle sensor.

Abstract: A laser gyroscope comprising includes a first solid waveguide; a gain medium interaction region where light traveling through the first solid waveguide interacts with non-solid Doppler-broadened gain medium molecules positioned outside of the first solid waveguide; at least one medium exciter configured to excite the non-solid Doppler-broadened gain medium at the gain medium interaction region, wherein the excited non-solid Doppler-broadened gain medium induces first and second laser fields within the first solid waveguide, wherein the first laser field travels in a clockwise direction within the first solid waveguide and the second laser field travels in a counter-clockwise direction within the first solid waveguide; and a photodetector communicatively coupled to the first solid waveguide and configured to detect the portions of the first and second laser fields.
