  • Patent number: 5480056
Abstract: A plunger for attachment to a drum reseal cap, the plunger having opposed ends with a handle alone end, resilient fingers at the other end and a sliding cylinder for forcing the resilient fingers in an outward direction to engage the reseal cap.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 15, 1993
Date of Patent: January 2, 1996
    Assignee: Russell-Stanley Corporation
Inventors: William Lima, Earl V. Lind, Philip D. Bartlett
  • Patent number: 5328104
Abstract: A system and method to shred, transport and reconstruct plastic drums. The drums are loaded into a shredding apparatus that shreds the drums into shreddings. The shreddings are then projected into a compartment in a storage means in a trailer. The loaded storage means is transported to a remote location to be further ground and pelletized for construction into new drums.

  • Patent number: 5284998
Abstract: Drums liners and methods used in the handling of hazardous materials and liquids comprising the use of disposable drum liners having a fitting allowing communication with the interior of the liner for securing the liner to a conventional drum bung hole, said fitting to be used to evacuate and collapse the liner, and a reseal plug attached to the fitting to seal the collapsed liner, said reseal plug having means to accept a plunger. The lid of the drum is removed and the sealed liner is taken from the drum using the plunger attached to the reseal plug. The liner is then placed into a disposal drum made of the same material as the liner and compressed. Once the disposal drum contains a sufficient number of compressed liners, it is removed for incineration or other safe disposal.

  • Patent number: 5265751
Abstract: A safety container having an array of ratchet teeth cooperating with a pawl stop is provided. The cover of the container can only be removed by counterclockwise rotation while the pawl is urged out of engagement with the ratchet teeth.

  • Patent number: 5222620
Abstract: A drum liner locking and locating apparatus is provided for securing a drum liner to a drum. The drum liner apparatus primarily comprises a fitting, a liner, and a non-releasable securing means. The fitting is passed through an opening in the lid of a drum before the lid is attached to the drum. The fitting can only be passed through the opening so that the liner is in a position that the liner can expand to the full size of the drum. After the fitting is in place, the non-releasable securing means fastens the fitting to the drum raising the drum liner to the top of the drum. Consequently, to remove the drum liner, the top of the drum must be removed destroying the drum and prohibiting reconditioning or reuse of the drum.

  • Patent number: 4078106
Abstract: A weatherseal is made by extruding a resin base with a relatively thick, flat support portion and a relatively thin, portion U-shaped in cross section and joined to opposite side edges of the support portion to arch over the center of the support portion. While the resin material is still plastic, a pressure differential expands the U-shaped portion to reduce the thickness of the walls of the U-shaped portion, and then each side of the U-shaped portion is cut at a predetermined distance from the support to leave a pair of thin, spaced-apart resilient fins. Then fibrous pile material is secured to the support between the fins to form a double-fin, pile weatherseal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 21, 1977
Date of Patent: March 7, 1978
