  • Patent number: 11666945
Abstract: A sorting system has a sorting area and a controller system that receives luggage-related sorting information for each piece of luggage. A transport mechanism transports the luggage into a sorting area which includes a sorting area with at least one make-up-place connected to the transport mechanism. The make-up-place sorts the luggage according to at least one item of luggage-related sorting information. Movable load devices receive the pieces of luggage sorted by the at least one make-up-place. The controller system assigns each piece of luggage according to at least one luggage-related information to a particular movable load device and the controller system is also adapted to select a make-up-place for each piece of luggage and to send the piece of luggage to the selected make-up-place to be loaded into the assigned movable load device.

  • Patent number: 11484914
Abstract: A sorting installation for parcels uses an efficient sorting process based on properties of the parcels. The sorting installation has at least one parcel inlet and a parcel outlet that discharges sorted parcels for external transportation. A conveying mechanism transports the parcels to be sorted from the parcel inlet into a sorting area of the sorting installation. The sorting area has a sorting mechanism that sorts the multiplicity of parcels according to at least one item of parcel-related sorting information and removes them from the conveying mechanism at a transfer station. The sorting area also includes primary buffer stores, which receive and temporarily store parcels sorted by the sorting mechanism according to the parcel-related sorting information. The primary buffer stores are set up to be moved to the at least one transfer station depending on the at least one item of parcel-related sorting information.

  • Patent number: 7683285
Abstract: A sorting device has at least one mail item buffer receptacle, a number of storage pockets for mail items arranged one after another and circulating continuously in a conveyor belt and moved past one or more loading stations. Below straight transfer sections of the conveyors fixed intermediate storage receptacles open at the top are arranged to accept one or more mail items from the loaded storage pockets to be opened under control in the transfer sections. On a transport path below the intermediate storage receptacles there are also continuously circulating mail item containers open at the top as sorting end points assigned to the destination addresses or destination address groups.

  • Publication number: 20100014706
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for resolving non-address attributes on a mail piece. The present system uses a mail sorter for sorting and facilitating the obtaining of a scan of the mail piece. The image is then scanned by automatic means to determine whether the non-address attributes can be automatically resolved. In the event of an unsuccessful scan, the image is forwarded to a processor which makes a functional resolution of the non-address attribute, locates example attributes and ranks them, and creates a matrix with the example attribute in the cognitive zone. The matrix is displayed to a coder who then quickly identifies whether or not the attribute and example attribute match. In the event of a non-match, a matrix with a next highest rank example attribute is created and forwarded to the encoder until no more example attributes remain, wherein the entire image is forwarded to the encoder.

  • Patent number: 6453054
Abstract: Described is a method of recognizing sequences of handwritten and/or joined-up numerals, in particular post codes, the method calling for the conversion of of feature vectors, thus enabling the sequence of numerals to be recognized using an HMM recognition device without the need for segmentation of the image. Also described are particularly relevant examples of feature extraction.
