  • Patent number: 4700154
Abstract: A polarization diplexer which branches from a circular or quadratic waveguide in the axial direction into pairs of rectangular waveguides respectively lying opposite each other with the first pair of two rectangular waveguides lying opposite one another and fed by a symmetrical hybrid junction comprising straight subarms and wherein the first pair are symmetrical. The second pair of rectangular waveguides comprises two rectangular waveguides lying opposite each other which is fed by a second electrically symmetrical hybrid junction having subarms straddled over their broad dimension. The invention can also be utilized as a polarization frequency diplexer.

  • Patent number: 4319206
Abstract: In the illustrated embodiments a dual branching is coupled to two simple branchings via coupling elements which are rotationally symmetrical so as to accommodate different spacial dispositions of the two simple branchings while maintaining electrically completely symmetrical passageways and consequent phase synchronism therein. When the dual branching is connected with an antenna for directional or satellite broadcasting operations, the sending and receiving frequencies, with respective polarizations at the respective simple branchings, may be separated with the use of a bandpass arrangement and 3-dB directional couplers for the respective separated frequencies.

  • Patent number: 4295109
Abstract: A rectangular wave guide H-elbow bent across the narrow side of the wave guide and having its outer corner flattened by a symmetrically angled conducting plane. The present invention provides for the reduction of the reflection factor in such elbow by providing that the relative corner flattening of the wave guide produces a value of x.sub.H /a greater than 0.73 wherein a is the length of the wide side of the wave guide and x.sub.H is the distance from the apex of the wave guide before it is flattened by the conducting plane to the junction of the conducting plane with the narrow side of the wave guide. Furthermore, capacitive loading means of cylindrical form are arranged in the area of the geometrical median w of the bend of the wave guide and being in the form of conductive cylinders 1 or 3 as illustrated in FIGS. 2 and 3.

  • Patent number: 4293829
Abstract: A polarization separator or diplexer for ultra-high frequencies utilizing waveguide sections of rectangular and/or round cross-section in which the signals passing through are phase synchronized over a particular frequency range and which can be manufactured very inexpensively and is operable over a broad frequency band and wherein the arms of the series branching waveguides and the E and H offset portions have a ratio of the narrow to wide sides of at least 1:4 and the first portion of the double branching for providing a connection and transition to the coaxial waveguide comprises an impedance level transformer which has variations in the cross-section of the inner conductor and the outer conductor.

  • Patent number: 4272744
Abstract: A rectangular waveguide elbow (E-elbow) bent across the broad side of the waveguide with an outer corner symmetrically flattened by conductive flattening or smoothing plane which provides for elimination of undesirable reflections by providing a cross cylindrical bar at the median between the inner corner and the center of the flattening or smoothing plane and wherein the cylindrical bar has an enlarged portion at its center which extends a portion length of the bar. A second embodiment provides a bar which does not have an enlarged portion but wherein the diameter of the bar ratio to the length of the shorter side of the waveguide is at least 0.258.

  • Patent number: 4270107
Abstract: A rectangular waveguide elbow formed with a truncated beveled corner on its outer edge and formed with a conductive cross bar which extends between the narrow walls of the waveguide and which is positioned midway between the inner corner of the waveguide elbow and the center of the truncated wall and further including an extending electrically conducting cylinder mounted on the interior surface of the truncated wall with its center on the diagonal of the truncated wall. The diameters of the conductive cross member and of the conductive metal cylinder are chosen so as to minimize the reflection factor and thus to reduce the reflection factor over a relatively broad-band.

  • Patent number: 4231000
Abstract: Antenna system for double polarization in two high frequency bands of different frequency positions includes a orthomode transducer, in the following text called polarization filter having an antenna end terminal and two directional terminals, one being for right circular polarized waves, and the other being for left circular polarized waves. These directional terminals connect, respectively, with two frequency filters which separate the signals into the lower of the two high frequency bands, and the higher of the two high frequency bands. There are two 3-dB 90.degree. directional couplers, one of which handles right and left circular polarized signals of the lower frequency band, and the other of which handles right and left circular polarized signals of the higher frequency band. The polarization filter is constructed to be phase-symmetrical with respect to its transit paths.

  • Patent number: 4168478
Abstract: Apparatus for separating electrical signals of different frequencies comprising two adjoining waveguides wherein both of the signals to be separated exist in one waveguide and only the higher frequency signal exists in the second waveguide including a radial circuit supressor attached to the first waveguide and with an extending center conductor extending through an opening formed in the first waveguide at a spacing of approximately one-quarter wavelength of the lower frequency band and wherein the center conductor of the radial circuit suppressor extends into the first waveguide a distance of approximately one-quarter wavelength for the center frequency of the higher frequency signal. A modification of the invention provides for a resonant cavity attached to the first waveguide with a longitudinal slot formed between the first waveguide and the resonant cavity and a third modification utilizes an inductive diaphragm rather than a slot formed between the resonant cavity and the first waveguide.
