Patent number: 5648998Abstract: A camera that projects data onto an X-ray film (2). The film is accommodated in a light-tight cassette (3). The data is imaged onto the film with light projected along a row (A) through an open window (4) in the cassette. The camera is characterized by means (24a, 24b, 25a, 25b, & 29) of releasably securing the cassette relative to the top (1a) of the camera along and/or across the row and by a control unit (27) that actuates the securing means during exposure and acts in conjunction with sensors (15a, 15b, & 15c) which emit signals in accordance with the orientation of the cassette.Type: GrantFiled: April 11, 1995Date of Patent: July 15, 1997Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert AktiengesellschaftInventors: Walter Bauer, Eberhard Werner

Patent number: 5218855Abstract: In a manipulator (1) for forging machines, for example multiple-ram forging machines with a plurality of rams acting radially on the forging (2), the workpiece (2) is moved axially according to the forging sequence and the feed drive of the manipulator (1) takes place at a constant speed, an actively controllable, axially effective superposed drive acting intermittently on the gripper axle (5) of the manipulator (1) and at least one hydraulically working piston/cylinder unit (12) being provided for supporting the axially displaceable gripper axle (5) in relation to the manipulator housing (4). To design the control of the manipulator (1) in a mechanically constructive way so that it functions simply and reliably, the front and rear stroke spaces (18, 19) of the piston/cylinder unit (12) are connectable by a line (28) by means of a valve (26), and the piston/cylinder unit (12) is designed as a servo-control device (17), by means of which the piston/cylinder unit (12) can be controlled.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1991Date of Patent: June 15, 1993Inventors: Eberhard Werner, Wilhelm Krieger

Patent number: 4966274Abstract: The walking beam assembly of the forging presses operates in several movement phases including a lifting movement, advance movement, lowering movement, opening movement, return movement, and closing movement. Step motors control driving members which perform individual moving processes in the individual movement phases. In turn, driving member processors drive the step motors by frequencies changing with time. When the velocity or frequency of the step motors are plotted on the ordinate of a graph and time along the abscissa of the graph, a trapezoidal graph form is produced along the time (t) line of the graph for each of the movement phases. Each trapezoidal form includes a rising flank and a falling flank with some of the flanks for adjacent driving member phase movement overlapping in time. The opening and return movement phases form a fixed cycle having a length predetermined and constant for all cycle lengths.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1988Date of Patent: October 30, 1990Assignee: Eumuco Aktiengesellschaft fur MaschinenbauInventors: Walter Willenbrock, Eberhard Werner

Patent number: 4873860Abstract: The lifting beam assembly for transporting workpieces from work station to work station in a forming press includes a pair of transport beam members for grasping workpieces to be transported within the forming press. A first drive mechanism executes vertical movement to raise and lower the transport beam members. A second drive mechanism executes longitudinal movement of the transport beam members in a direction parallel to the direction traveled from work station to work station. A third drive mechanism executes transverse movement of the transport beam members. Each of the three drive mechanisms include movement actuating devices for effecting the respective vertical, longitudinal and transverse movements. An actuating shaft is secured at one end thereof for hydraulic actuation by an electro-hydraulic booster. It is coupled at the other end thereof to the movement actuating device for effecting the particular respective movement of the transport beam members.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1987Date of Patent: October 17, 1989Assignee: Eumuco Aktiengesellschaft Fur MaschinenbauInventor: Eberhard Werner

Patent number: 4604021Abstract: The lifting beam manipulator assembly is used for transporting workpieces in a forging press having machine tools. The assembly comprises a lifting beam including a carrier that is movable forwards and backwards and has workpiece grasping means. The grasping means includes a pair of grab arms located at each of the machining positions. A control mechanism is provided for the lifting beam for controlling the movement of the carrier along a workpiece transporting path which includes movement in three axes which are perpendicular with respect to each other. The movement control mechanism includes a linear transport means for movement along each of the axes and individual drive assemblies for each linear transport mechanism for effecting each movement of the carrier in the three axes. A limit switch gear mechanism activates each of the individual drive mechanisms for the linear transport means.Type: GrantFiled: December 6, 1983Date of Patent: August 5, 1986Assignee: Eumuco Aktiengesellschaft fur MaschinenbauInventor: Eberhard Werner

Patent number: 4520643Abstract: The assembly for blowing out and spraying dies in a forging press is particularly adapted both to automatically operating and hand operated drop-forging presses. The automatically operating drop forging presses have workpiece transport effected by a walking beam transport system. The blowing and spraying assembly comprises arms having nozzles disposed at the end thereof to be guided into the mold area of the forging press in a timed sequence while avoiding the movement of the press plunger and walking beam transport system when it is being used. The blowing and spraying assembly comprises a carrier means hinged to a four-bar linkage arrangement which has two levers and a carrier member. In a specific embodiment, the ends of the two levers facing away from the carrier member are pivotably mounted to a housing. The housing constitutes a carrier support means secured to the stator of the forging press.Type: GrantFiled: August 2, 1983Date of Patent: June 4, 1985Assignee: Eumuco Aktiengesellschaft Fur MaschinenbauInventors: Eberhard Werner, Friedrich Willim

Patent number: 4520497Abstract: An arrangement for projecting data onto an X-ray film has a housing which is designed to support a film cassette. The housing has a pair of mutually perpendicular slots which are capable of receiving a data carrier card. The slots are so designed that the data-carrying part of the card is exposed when the card is supported in either of the slots. A light source for illuminating the data-carrying part of the card is positioned so as to be on the optical axis of the data-carrying part when the card is accommodated in a first one of the slots but not the second. A partially light-transmissive mirror is mounted between the latter slot and the light source and is inclined at an angle of 45.degree. to both of the slots. The mirror transmits a portion of the light from the light source to one of the slots and reflects the light returning to it from this slot towards the film inverting the image of the data in the process.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1981Date of Patent: May 28, 1985Assignee: Agfa-Gevaert AktiengesellschaftInventors: Reimund Kluge, Eberhard Werner

Patent number: 4463587Abstract: The article handling assembly includes a lifting beam having a support with a plurality of workpiece grasping members. The support is moved inwardly and outwardly with respect to the work stations of the forging press. A spraying mechanism is also provided to move inwardly and outwardly with respect to the work stations of the forging press. A control mechanism operates the movement of the lifting beam having the workpiece grasping members effecting movement from one work station to the next. The movement is effected along the length of the forging press work stations outside of the area of the work stations. The movement of the spraying mechanism into and out of the work stations is synchronized with the movement of the workpiece grasping members moving into and out of the work stations to initially grasp workpieces and then to release the workpieces in the next work station. These operations are effectuated while the forging press is in an open position.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1982Date of Patent: August 7, 1984Assignee: Eumuco Aktiengesellschaft fur MaschinenbauInventor: Eberhard Werner
