Patent number: 5346558Abstract: A novel anisotropically conductive solder paste and a method of use thereof to join metallic parts in electronic manufacturing processes, in particular surface-mount electronic manufacturing processes. The solder paste is fluxless and reflowable for purposes of repair and achieves electrical anisotropy by soldering component leads to circuit board pads, while maintaining electrical insulation properties between adjacent joints.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 1993Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn.Inventor: Eckart Mathias

Patent number: 5135569Abstract: Provided is an ink composition which comprises a fluorescent dye. The ink composition is useful in tagging for subsequent identification various articles having a polymeric or porous organic or inorganic surface. The ink composition comprises a non-fluorescent ink such as a black ink, a fluorescent dye, and a solvent for the fluorescent dye, which solvent swells and impregnates the surface of the article thereby permitting impregnation of the article by the fluorescent dye. The resulting tagged article has a printed surface with a fluorescent dye impregnated within the article directly beneath the printing on the surface. Identification of the article can then take place by removing printed material, and subjecting the article to UV irradiation. Observing a bright fluorescent color characteristic of the fluorescent dye used confirms the authenticity of the article.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 1990Date of Patent: August 4, 1992Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn.Inventor: Eckart Mathias

Patent number: 4150167Abstract: This invention is directed to polyenes derived from hydantoin acids, amines and esters. The polyene is typically a reaction product of a hydantoin amine, e.g., N,N'-bis(3-aminopropyl)-dimethylhydantoin, a diisocyanate and an unsaturated ether, e.g., trimethylolpropane diallyl ether. Upon exposure to a free radical generator, e.g., actinic radiation, in combination with a polythiol, this polyene cures to a solid, insoluble, chemically resistant, crosslinked polythioether product having excellent heat stability.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1977Date of Patent: April 17, 1979Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.Inventors: Eckart Mathias, Charles R. Morgan
