Abstract: Water-dilutable, amphoteric-surfactant-containing wax compositions (P) comprising as wax (W) an oxidized and optionally partially saponified hydrocarbon wax or a mixture of such waxes and as surfactant (A.sub.1) at least one amphoteric surfactant that contains one polyethyleneglycolether chain and optionally further surfactants and additions, are excellently suitable as softeners of high hydrophilicity, which are highly compatible with optical brighteners and synthetic resin finishes.

Abstract: A quaternized aminoamide-modified wax obtainable by amidating, with a polyamine containing a single primary amino group, a carboxy group-containing, oxidized hydrocarbon wax which may be partially saponified, and quaternizing at least one amino group of the resulting aminoamide-modified wax, optionally in admixture with a non-oxidized paraffin wax may be applied, preferably in the form of an aqueous dispersion containing a dispersing agent, to a fibrous substrate to improve its workability in mechanical processes.

Abstract: Water-dilutable compositions consisting essentially of(a) an acylated polyamine derivative selected from the group consisting of:1. a polyamine acylated by introduction of at least one radical of a C.sub.12-24 -fatty acid and oxyalkylated,2. an alkylated derivative of 1.,3. a quaternated derivative of 1 or 2,4. a protonated derivative of 1., 2. or 3.,or a mixture thereof and(b) an alcohol-ether of the average formulaR--O--CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O).sub.n H (I),wherein R is C.sub.1-4 -alkyland n is a number from 3 to 12and optionally(c) a hydrophilic surfactantare eminently suitable for finishing, in particular softening, fibrous material.

Abstract: Diallylamine compounds may be polymerized to water-soluble, linear, high-molecular weight polymers having low residual monomer content by the use of cationic azo initiators and phosphorous acid or a derivative thereof as regulator. The polymers are useful as pre- or after-treatment agents for anionic dyeings on textile substrates.

Abstract: Aqueous wax dispersions containing a non-oxidized paraffin wax, a cationic surfactant of formula I ##STR1## in which the significances of the symbols are given in the text, and optionally a cold stabilizer such as ethylene glycol, have excellent stability when used for textile finishing under high-shear conditions, for example in jet dyeing machines.
