  • Publication number: 20100181186
Abstract: The invention consequently relates, in one aspect, to a process for obtaining a hydrofluoroalkane comprising at least two carbon atoms, which is purified of unsaturated organic impurities, according to which the hydrofluoroalkane containing organic impurities including (chloro)fluoro olefins is subjected to at least one purification treatment with bromine or BrCl, preferably in the presence of, an initiator. The process is suitable, for example, to purify 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane. A further aspect concerns the application of LEDs or OLEDs to support chemical reactions of the gas-gas, liquid-liquid or gas-liquid type, and a respective reactor.

  • Publication number: 20040131536
Abstract: A method of effectively purifying sulfuryl fluoride, which is useful as an insulating gas in electrical devices or as a pesticide and which frequently is contaminated with sulfur dioxide, hydrogen fluoride and/or hydrogen chloride. In the method, contaminated sulfuryl fluoride is contacted with or conducted over an alkali fluoride, e.g. potassium fluoride. The purification can be carried out during sulfuryl fluoride production, during storage of sulfuryl fluoride and/or before or during use of the sulfuryl fluoride, for example, as a pesticide.

  • Patent number: 6238642
Abstract: Sulfuryl fluoride is prepared selectively and in a high yield from sulfur dioxide and elemental fluorine in the presence of an alkali fluoride and hydrogen fluoride. The preferred alkali fluoride is potassium fluoride.

  • Patent number: 6143269
Abstract: Sulfuryl fluoride (SO.sub.2 F.sub.2) frequently contains chlorine, sulfur dioxide and other acidic impurities owing to its production. Effective purification is possible if the sulfuryl fluoride is contacted with hydrogen peroxide or a precursor thereof, preferably in an aqueous solution. The purified product is suitable as a pesticidal agent, for example.
