Abstract: A system and method are described for inserting a watermark in encoded content, including receiving encoded content, receiving at least one pre-processed watermark unit and replacing directly a number of bits starting at a position in the encoded content with an alternative value, wherein the alternative value has embedded therein watermark signals, wherein the alternative value is selected from among a plurality of alternative values specified in the at least one said watermark unit. An apparatus and method for generating watermark units are also described including selecting a position where a value in encoded content is to be replaced by an alternative value and calculating a plurality of alternative values for each selected position.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of marking binary-coded data sets, especially image data or audio signals, by applying at least one information unit to a data set. The invention is characterized by the generation of a discrete position sequence for the application of information units to the data set to be marked, taking into account data-specific characteristics and using a key; and by the fact that the information unit to be applied is written and read at the positions established in the position sequence in the data set.

Abstract: Techniques for protecting the security of digital representations, and of analog forms made from them. The techniques include authentication techniques that can authenticate both a digital representation and an analog form produced from the digital representation, an active watermark that contains program code that may be executed when the watermark is read, and a watermark agent that reads watermarks and sends messages with information concerning the digital representations that contain the watermarks. The authentication techniques use semantic information to produce authentication information. Both the semantic information and the authentication information survive when an analog form is produced from the digital representation. In one embodiment, the semantic information is alphanumeric characters and the authentication information is either contained in a watermark embedded in the digital representation or expressed as a bar code. With the active watermark, the watermark includes program code.

Abstract: Techniques for secure distribution of digital representations that combine encryption and watermarking. When a user at a client desires to download a digital representation, the user makes a request to a server for the digital representation, which encrypts the digital representation using a first key and downloads the encrypted digital representation to the user. Before the user performs any operation on the decrypted digital representation, a secret fingerprint watermark identifying the user is added to the digital representation. The fingerprint watermark is added either at the server or at the client and a copy of the fingerprinted digital representation is kept at the server. If the user makes an impermissible use of the digital representation, the secret fingerprint watermark can be used to identify the user. The request made by the user indicates the type of use that the user wished to make of the digital representation.

Abstract: Thermoplastically re-formable plastic sheets with flameproofing means, characterized by a core layer 1-10 mm thick comprised of polyether sulfone or a similar thermoplastic, which core material has a content of at least 0.5 wt. %, preferably at least 2 wt. %, of a flame-protective additive, such as boron trioxide; and said sheet or plate further characterized by outer layers, firmly adhering to and covering the two faces of the core layer, at least 0.05 mm thick and comprised of a thermoplastic having a lower proportional content of the flame-protective additives than the core layer; are particularly useful for interior structures in passenger conveyances, such as airplanes.

Abstract: Fire protection equipment for estinguishing fires in the cargo space of an aircraft includes two containers for extinguishing evaporating liquid; a common conduit system with nozzles distributes the liquid and is directly connected to one of the containers; the other container is also connected to that conduit system but through a series connection of a water adsorption filter, a solid particle filter, a pressure reducing stage, and a throttle to establish a constant flow rate from the second container into the conduit system, a check valve prevents back flow into the latter container.

Abstract: The floor in an aircraft having a cargo space is provided with a conveyor system comprised of roller type tracks and an array system of rails superimposed upon the conveyor system. Latch elements positionable in relation to and connectable to the rails in variable positions are provided for sliding on the rails and being fastened thereto in selective positions. The latch elements are constructed for engaging pieces of freight, such as containers and pallets, for latching them into positions as predetermined by the positions of the rail elements.

Abstract: A spring-biased restraining member is retracted by means of a remotely positioned, manually operable lever being outside the cargo space; the linkage includes a hydraulic structure for delayedly returning the lever and the restraining member to the protracted position. The linkage unlocks a latch and enables the cargo to overrun the restraining member even from that side that is to lock the cargo when the restraining member is in its locked position. In the other direction, the restraining member is overridden by the cargo out of each position of the restraining member structure between the lever and the restraining member.

Abstract: A frame structure is fastened to two rails which normally serve in an aircraft for fastening the seating. That frame structure, in turn, holds a frame element to which is mounted a spring-biased latch hook; the frame element can be fastened to the frame structure in different positions, the latter having also a fixed end hook. The structure as a whole establishes a removable YZ restrainer that is readily adaptable to differently wide cargo pallets or the like.
