  • Publication number: 20170253519
Abstract: The problem addressed by the invention is that of simplifying a conversion of the gutter system of an IS machine, for example, from double forming operation to triple forming operation and vice versa. This problem is solved in that a guide plate assembly (80) is provided in the course of the sliding path for molten glass drops, which guide plate assembly consists of a first assembly, which is composed of an elongate base (26) intended to be fastened to a scoop beam (21) and of supporting segments (29, 30) attached to said base, and a second assembly, which is composed of a guide plate unit (22) designed as a direct support of guide plates (42) and intended to be mounted on the first assembly. A conversion in the aforementioned sense can be limited to a replacement of said second assembly, whereby a significant reduction in assembly activities and set-up activities can be achieved.

  • Patent number: 9458042
Abstract: In order to achieve reproducible operating parameters of the shaping process of an I.S. glassware forming machine, a central control of all blowing and cooling air flows is proposed, in which in accordance with sections a volume flow of the cooling air including the inlet-side and outlet-side temperatures thereof are measured by means of a measuring device (51, 52) and a heat loss which is associated with the section is ascertained. The heat thus removed in sections is compared with standard values, wherein in the event that tolerance zones are exceeded a variation of the volume flow is initiated by the actuation of restrictors (53, 54). All of the sections of the glassware forming machine which are intended for passage of cooling air are monitored in this way, namely on the basis of a determinable heat loss, so that uniform cooling conditions, which are adapted to a mathematical model, and in this respect a reproducible product quality are achieved.

  • Patent number: 5935287
Abstract: A gob delivery apparatus in which gobs of molten glass are conducted from a gob feeder through a gob delivery system into a mold of an I.S. glassware forming machine. The gob delivery system includes a scoop, a substantially flat slide member and a deflector. The scoop catches the gobs and directs them downwardly at an angle. The slide member is supported fixedly on the machine and includes a downwardly angled upper slide surface for the gobs. An upper end of the deflector receives the gobs directly from a lower end of the slide member.

  • Patent number: 5846283
Abstract: Gobs of molten glass fall in succession into a scoop which can be swivelled about a vertical axis and which supplies gobs to a delivery system, for example, of an I.S. glassware forming machine. The gobs travel along a path of movement from the scoop to a trough in free flight and to a deflector which is downwardly curved. The deflector delivers the gobs so that their longitudinal axis lies coaxially with respect to the longitudinal axis of a mold which is to be charged. The trough has its upper end supported by means of a universal joint. The lower end of the trough is guided in a vertical chute of the deflector and can be raised and lowered by means of an adjustment device.

  • Patent number: 4389226
Abstract: A flow-promoting device in combination with a heated box tray open at the top in a reaction and degasification column in which a viscous or highly viscous liquid is flowing from an inlet end to an outlet end of the tray and in which a heating tube register is located to be completely covered by the liquid. The tube register includes a plurality of heating tubes spaced from each other, and the flow-promoting device has a bottom heating unit for the box tray positioned outside and along the bottom of the tray, a siphon plate mounted on the tray at a liquid inlet end of the tray and closely in front of the tube register, with the siphon plate having a bottom end extending to the underside of the tube register, and a weir positioned at the liquid outlet end of the box tray. The weir has a top edge extending at least to the topside of the tube register, and the spacing of the weir from the tube register is larger than the spacing of the siphon plate at the inlet end from the tube register.

  • Patent number: 4339570
Abstract: In the production of polyesters by introduction of precondensates on to a first plate of a column reactor product quality is improved and operating time is increased in that spontaneous flash evaporation of the precondensate takes place in a so-called entry box, before the introduction on to the first plate of the column reactor, and in that separation of the liquid component from the gaseous component is subsequently carried out by centrifugal force in a so-called annular chamber.
