  • Patent number: 6436283
Abstract: A self-contained, portable rainwater collecting and purifying system for collecting, filtering and disinfecting rainwater or other precipitation primarily for drinking purposes. In a preferred embodiment the portable rainwater collecting and purifying system is characterized by a housing which contains the system components. The bottom of the housing is typically fitted with skids or wheels, and a pair of sloped water collection panels is typically hinged to the housing for receiving the falling rainwater. A collection gutter receives the rainwater from the panels and drains the rainwater into a vertical standpipe fitted with a typically screen filter or filters. As the rising water in the standpipe eventually overflows, the overflowing, partially filtered water leaves the standpipe and enters a water collection tank through a hopper typically fitted with a gravity-flow filter or filters.

  • Patent number: 4968328
Abstract: This invention relates to improved baffles or deflector elements for gas treating equipment wherein each element is designed with inlet and outlet sections conntected by a low pressure drop sinusoidal curved section. Each element is also provided with liquid collection and drainage channels and optionally with gas vent channels. A high strength assembly of baffles is provided by interlocking alignment and fastening apparatus using male tabs and female slots formed on each baffle element.

  • Patent number: 4728468
Abstract: An extended surface fluid contact plate which includes a plurality of vertical fins oriented in parallel relationship and multiple horizontal fins, also mounted in parallel relationship, with two sets of diagonal fins interconnecting the intersecting vertical and horizontal fins at junctions to provide an extended surface fluid contact matrix. Pins project in spaced relationship from selected locations on the face of the plate and cooperating pin slots are provided in selected junctions in the back of the plate for receiving the pins, to join individual fluid contact plates together in front-to-back, vertically staggered relationship. T-connectors and cooperating T-slots are provided at the top and bottom of each fluid contact plate, respectively, in order to facilitate stacking and connecting the plates in vertical, end-to-end relationship and separate rows of fluid contact plates are aligned to provide a cooling or mass transfer medium of desired size and thickness.

  • Patent number: 4477394
Abstract: Extended surface, fluid contact panels which include a plurality of tubular members in generally parallel relationship and spaced in a matrix of thin fins connecting the tubular members to create liquid-gas contact areas on the inside and outside surfaces of the tubular members and the fins. The tubular members and fin matrix are vertically oriented in staggered array with respect to the tower or structure in which the panels are used and in a preferred embodiment, the fins and tubes are tapered and shaped from a plastic material and selected ones of the fins are provided with projecting tabs and matching socket members for connecting the panels in end-to-end relationship and spaced rivet apertures are provided in the fins for accepting rivets to pin the panels in stacked configuration.
