  • Patent number: 10124365
Abstract: A method is provided for metering a coating liquid in a processing machine having a metering device including at least one applicator roller and one counter-pressure cylinder that forms a coating nip and that guides the printing substrate, the metering device being operatively connected to a circulation system for circulating the coating liquid including a supply line, a return line, a reservoir and a conveying pump.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 5, 2008
Date of Patent: November 13, 2018
    Assignee: INDUSTRIE-AUTOMATION VERTRIEBS-GMBH
Inventors: Otto Hoedl, Guenter Jung, Jann Neumann, Edgar Doersam
  • Patent number: 9878485
Abstract: For the production of embossed microstructures in radiation-curing materials, use is made of a micro embossing form fixed to a reflective or scattering cylinder surface. Via a press nip, the micro embossing form comes into contact with the substrate guided over a cylinder or a deflection roller. The radiation-curing material is acted on in one or both pockets, before or after the press nip, with radiation which penetrates into the press nip by reflection or scattering.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 5, 2013
Date of Patent: January 30, 2018
    Assignee: Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG
Inventors: Edgar Doersam, Thorsten Euler, Immanuel Fergen, Martin Haas, Evgeny Kurmakaev, Martin Schmitt-Lewen, Joachim Sonnenschein

  • Publication number: 20110229628
Abstract: A method for creating a structured surface or a safety or decorative feature based thereon in a process of the printing industry wherein a liquid, preferably ink or varnish, and particles, preferably pearlescent pigments or a material having a similar effect are applied to a substrate. The liquid is provided with a surface structure and is characterized by a creation of a random surface structure, in particular a structure of mountains and valleys, of the liquid and by the creation of a random particle distribution, preferably a random particle orientation, by blowing a gas such as air onto the unhardened liquid which may be heated if desired. The surface that is thus created has a unique structure that is discernible by the human eye or detectable by camera and may, for instance, have a light/dark change.

  • Patent number: 7328899
Abstract: An apparatus for fixing a sheet on the surface of an electrically conductive cylinder of a printing machine for processing sheets, in particular, a sheet-fed offset printing machine. The apparatus includes an electrode that extends over the width of the cylinder for creating an electric field for adhering the sheet to the surface of the cylinder and an air directing device for directing pressurized air streams against the sheet and preliminary positioning the sheet onto the cylinder prior to being acted upon by the electric field. Various alternative embodiments of the sheet fixing apparatus are disclosed.
