  • Publication number: 20070284519
Abstract: A cross-flow ion mobility analyzer (CIMA) that includes a component of gas flow that opposes an electric field that is established within a channel, wherein ions are carried through the channel, wherein ions of a specific mobility are trapped by the opposing electric field and flow field within the channel and are detected when the ions reach the end of the channel, wherein a detector at the end of the channel sees a continuous stream of mobility-selected ions, and wherein different ions are selected by modifying the electric field and/or the velocity of the flow field.

  • Publication number: 20070246650
Abstract: A virtual ion trap that uses electric focusing fields instead of machined metal electrodes that normally surround the trapping volume, wherein two opposing surfaces include a plurality of uniquely designed and coated electrodes, and wherein the electrodes can be disposed on the two opposing surfaces using plating techniques that enable much higher tolerances to be met than existing machining techniques.

  • Publication number: 20060265384
Abstract: Media data files stored in a first computing device are transcoded for transferring to a second, portable computing device. The device parameters of the second computing device are determined by determining the type of the second computing device, and selecting one from a plurality of sets of predetermined, pre-stored device parameters for different types of second computing devices, based on the type of the second computing device. A selected media data file is transcoded in accordance with the determined device parameters of the second computing device, regardless of whether the second computing device is connected to the first computing device. When the second computing device is connected to the first computing device, the transcoded media data file is transferred from the first computing device to the second computing device.

  • Publication number: 20060259521
Abstract: A folder or file on the first computing device to be synchronized with a second, portable computing device is selected by a first icon corresponding to the folder or file being dragged and dropped to overlap with a second icon corresponding to data management software running on the first computing device. Both the first icon and the second icon are displayed on the user interface provided by the data management software. A folder or file on the second computing device to be synchronized with the first computing device is located at a predetermined location in the second computing device for synchronization with the first computing device. The selected folder or file is partitioned into a plurality of segments. The synchronization of the selected folder or file is performed in terms of these segments while maintaining a count of the number of segments that were synchronized.

  • Patent number: 7075064
Abstract: A system and method are provided of extracting spectra from data produced by temporally indexed spectral scans from a spectrometer and spectrometer. The method includes the operation of receiving a data matrix from the spectrometer. The noise can then be removed from the data matrix. A further operation is identifying spectra of interest in the data matrix based on information content. In addition, a reduction transformation can be applied to the data matrix based upon the spectra of interest based upon the denizen transformation for the purpose of extracting the spectra of interest from the data matrix.
