  • Patent number: 5238153
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing sterile solution which includes a valve to control the dispensing of the sterile solution from a container. The valve comprises a solution outlet and an air inlet opening having an associated filter membrane to filter the air passing into the container. When dispensing the solution, force applied to the container causes the solution outlet to open and prevents access of the solution to the air inlet opening. When the force is relieved, a partial vacuum is formed in the container which causes the solution outlet to close. Air is then drawn into the container via the air inlet opening and through the filter membrane.

  • Patent number: 4922618
Abstract: An improved polar co-ordinate digitizer where a cord extensible from a base unit moves a cord guide to provide an angle measurement and is wrapped on a drum whose movement reflects a length measurement. Lateral pressure on the cord guide is minimized by a low mass pivot arm whose angle is sensed by optical photodetector techniques. In addition the length of the cord is also sensed by a similar photodetector both mounted for rotation about the origin axis of the polar co-ordinate system and utilizing a fixed reference photodetector all of which sense a continuously rotating disk with an index mark on it. Suitable calibration is provided for the system.

  • Patent number: 4907613
Abstract: A contact lens cleaning device provides a mechanical apparatus for the thorough agitation and cleaning of contact lenses immersed in a disinfecting solution. The device comprises a base portion bearing a reservoir for containing a measured amount of disinfecting solution, and a main housing portion including a lens holder portion for releasable capture of the contact lenses to be cleaned. The lens holder is connected to rotating crankshafts by connecting rods, and the crankshafts are connected to a knob on the outside of the main housing, so that rotary motion of the crankshafts is translated to reciprocating motion of the lens holder.
