Abstract: A liquid jet, which is not decomposed to droplets, is guided onto a hot yarn wad in a cooling section with rod guide means, and this leads to rapid, very uniform cooling. Smooth thread travel is produced during take-off at thread speeds of 2000 m/min and more. One deflection of the thread is usually sufficient for drying purposes since the liquid is thereby centrifuged off.

Abstract: An airstream impinging laterally on a thread can convey a running thread through an opening. This "placing" of threads in nozzles fails at elevated thread speeds. According to the invention, placing succeeds even at high thread speeds if a strong stream of propelling gas is divided in the nozzle into edge streams which are deflected outwards and a fine central stream which conveys the thread through the narrow opening.

Abstract: In an apparatus for the continuous static mixing of flowable substances in a tubular housing with mixing inserts, the peripheral flow in the housing and the ease of manufacture of the mixing inserts are improved by having the mixing inserts composed of planes provided with intersecting throughflow slots and webs, in which the webs of both planes form a single piece with a transversely extending connecting web and the throughflow slots extend to the housing wall.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for cooling liquids containing solids by expansion comprising of cyclone which consists of an inlet chamber and a separating part, the cross-section of the inlet chamber being 5 to 30 times greater than that of the product delivery pipe which opens into the inlet chamber, and said inlet chamber before opening into the ring chamber becoming continuously reduced in width and continuously increased in height, and the separating part, to which the inlet chamber is tangentially attached, consisting of a ring chamber below which there is a separating cylinder of smaller diameter, these two parts being connected by a sloping surface.

Abstract: A mixing insert of solid material into which intersecting channels are drilled is particularly suitable for use as a static mixer for highly viscous liquids. Abstract: This invention relates to an apparatus for false twisting synthetic filament yarns, which apparatus is in the form of an air rotated nozzle having tangential inlet bores and two central outlet bores. The twisting chamber is set at an angle of 2.degree. to 40.degree. to the draw-off direction of the filament. The special advantage of this apparatus according to the invention is that it ensures smooth movement of the filament outside the twisting chamber.
