  • Patent number: 5174511
Abstract: Apparatus for feeding particulate material to a roll mill, such as a roll refiner mill, or flaking mill has rollers (1, 2) pressed against each other with the help of a pressure exerting device, and a feeding compartment disposed above the nip (3) for the supply of the material to be ground. The feeding compartment (5) has a supply opening (14), succeeded by a device (11) for supplying mixed material to the rollers (1 and 2). This device is composed of a swivel spout (11) driven backward and forward, substantially lengthwise along the nip (3), by a pivot drive (13).

  • Patent number: 4905917
Abstract: A roll mill, particularly a flaking mill, for milling particulate material comprises at least two rollers, especially a stationary roller and a movable one, pressed against each other by means of a pressure exerting device. Product is supplied in a width greater than the axial width of the rollers and their nip. Channels are arranged on both lateral ends of the rollers and collect the material fed in excess of the axial length of the rollers, said channels being preferably open towards the rollers, especially over their whole length. Each of said channels discharges onto a guide surface situated above the nip of the rollers and discharges in turn all the material from the channels into the nip above the upper gripping zone of the nip.

  • Patent number: 4193555
Abstract: A roll mill has sealing devices pressed against the ends of the rolls to seal the roll gap so that material being processed is not squeezed out (such as oil seed during treatment for flaking). The sealing devices include flow guides (such as recesses therein). A curtain of material, wider than the rolls are long, falls onto the roll gap, and so much of it as exceeds the width of the rolls is guided by the flow guides into the roll gap from beyond the ends of the rolls outwardly of the roll ends. This happens because the flow guides themselves extend near the roll gap but stop short of the roll ends. The sealing devices may include a sealing pin surmounted by an elongate wedge member, the two having communicating recesses which together form the flow guide.

  • Patent number: 3970256
Abstract: Grinding rolls are provided on a support, each having opposite axial ends provided with respective trunnions. Open-and-shut journals are provided on the support for the respective trunnions. A displacing arrangement is engageable with the trunnions of each grinding roll and pivotable between a first end position in which the trunnions of a respective grinding roll are located in their associated journals, and a second end position in which the grinding roll and the trunnions thereof are laterally displaced relative to the first position and supported by the displacing arrangement.
