  • Patent number: 8496727
Abstract: A steel production method in the steel and iron industry involves dividing a vertically falling solid slag stream which flows from a steelmaking furnace into individual streams, forcedly cooling the individual streams, dividing the individual streams into parts by cutting across the movement thereof, forcedly cooling the parts and transferring them to a belt conveyor on which the separate parts are forcedly cooled and transported away from the vessel. A shaped conveyor belt, on which the slag parts are crushed by means of a cylindrical roll, is used for additional crushing.

  • Patent number: 8430280
Abstract: A submerged nozzle has a lower part with a bottom and two outlet side channels above the bottom, and a skirt with a center fixed to the lower part of the nozzle above the outlet side channels. The skirt has two parallel flat surfaces each having side edges that are smoothly connected to each other by two respective cylindrical surfaces, the two outlet side channels being identical and lying along a common longitudinal axis making an acute angle with the parallel flat surfaces. A portion of the skirt is spaced apart from the nozzle to allow hot metal to flow in the space between the nozzle and the skirt.

  • Publication number: 20110140321
Abstract: The invention relates to producing and processing liquid metal in metallurgy. The inventive tuyer device comprises a well block with a built-in shell, coaxial metal pipes arranged inside the shell, a central working channel and an annular channel encompassing the working channel on the side of a device introducible into the liquid metal, wherein the channels are separately connected to ducts for supplying gas media to the metal and the coaxial metal pipes consist of two interconnected sections of different diameters, the second section having the larger diameter, being connected to the ducts for separately supplying gas media to the working channels of the first section, being provided with an extra pipe and having the annular channels only, the gaps of which are in the form of capillaries for the liquid metal, the internal section of the central pipe being closed on both ends and filled with a refractory material.

  • Publication number: 20100206132
Abstract: The invention relates to steel production in the steel and iron industry. The inventive method consists in dividing a solid slag stream which flows from a metallurgical vessel and falls down, into individual streams along the solid stream, in forcedly cooling the thus obtained individual streams, in dividing the individual streams into parts (pieces) by cutting across the movement thereof, in forcedly cooling said parts and transferring to a belt conveyor, on which said separate parts/pieces are forcedly cooled and transported away from the vessel. A shaped (with containers) conveyor belt, on which the slag pieces are crushed by means of a cylindrical roll, is used for additional crushing. The inventive device for carrying out the totality of the above-listed operations, comprises at least three throat grates which are horizontally positioned in an assembled body and one of which is provided with a drive for carrying out reciprocating motion.

  • Publication number: 20100187266
Abstract: The invention relates to the iron and steel industry, more specifically, to continuous slab casting using a submerged nozzle. The inventive submerged nozzle comprises a bottom, lateral channels and a skirt which is secured to the lower part of the nozzle above the output lateral channels and is formed by two parallel flat surfaces which are gradually conjugated on the ends thereof by means of cylindrical surfaces. The nozzle is arranged in the center of the skirt and has two similar oppositely positioned lateral channels having a common longitudinal axis which forms together with the parallel flat surfaces of the skirt an acute angle ranging from 20 to 45°.
