  • Patent number: 9411677
Abstract: A method for detecting errors in a transfer of data from a transmitter to at least one receiver includes coding the data together with address information identifying the receiver in a series of data packets and transferring the data and the address information using the data packets. The method also includes generating, at the transmitter, a check value for each data packet and transferring the check value with/in the data packet to the receiver. The method further includes comparing, at the receiver, the check value with an expectation value, wherein an error is detected in the event of a deviation. For each data packet to be transmitted, the method includes calculating a number sequence value from the address information using a first calculation rule, generating the check value from the sequence value using a second calculation rule and transmitting the data packet with the check value to the receiver.

  • Patent number: 7808917
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for transmitting telegrams. The system has at least one first communication means provided for sending telegrams and at least one second communication means provided for receiving telegrams, with a telegram having a check value that can be determined from a useful data component of the telegram, with the first communication means having a first telegram counter provided for assigning a count value to a telegram in accordance with a send sequence. To improve error detection during the transmission of telegrams it is proposed that the count value for determining the check value be a constituent of the useful data component is, that information signaling a change in the count value be a constituent of the useful data component when the telegram is transmitted, that the second communication means have a second telegram counter, and that means be provided for synchronizing the first and second telegram counter.

  • Patent number: 7453902
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and a method for the failsafe transmission of data, the system having at least one component (2, 6, 7), which is enhanced for the failsafe transmission of data. To allow the failsafe transmission of data with reduced hardware outlay, it is proposed according to the invention that the one-channel component (2, 6, 7) is enhanced for the fail-safe transmission of data in that it is connected via a bus (1) to a failsafe computer unit (8), it has a communication driver (23), which maintains the data in standard and non-standard form, the communication driver (23) maintains a marker value, which indicates whether safe replacement values or real values are used, in standard and non-standard form.

  • Patent number: 7418647
Abstract: A one-channel transmission of information on a bus system within an automation system is provided. Data transmission, in compliance with safety integrity level 2 according to IEC 618508, is achieved with reduced hardware outlay. The information to be transmitted via the bus system contains net data, which is present within a processing unit in two channels in the form of a first data set and in the form of a second data set that differs from the first data set at least in the form of representation. The processing unit generates a transmission telegram suitable for one-channel transmission on the bus system from the two data sets, whereby the net data present in the form of the first data set is stored in a first data area of the transmission telegram and a checksum generated on the basis of the second data set is stored in a second data area of the transmission telegram.

  • Patent number: 5345378
Abstract: One cycle of a programmable controller includes reading-in (E) the input signals, processing (B) the input signals, whereby inter alia the output signals are calculated, and outputting (A) the output signals. The time one cycle takes can be shortened by processing (B) the input signals at least in part simultaneously with the outputting (A) of the output signals of the preceding cycle and with the reading-in (E) of the input signals of the subsequent cycle.
