  • Patent number: 9729498
Abstract: A network device within a data communication network includes a plurality of network interfaces, each programmed with a respective set of Address Resolution Protocol (ARP) routing entries for correlating network addresses with physical addresses. Each network interface is further programmed with an additional respective set of Longest Prefix Match (LPM) routing entries for correlating other network addresses with designated network interfaces to enable traffic matching one of the LPM routing entries to be forwarded to the appropriate designated network interface within the network device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 18, 2014
Date of Patent: August 8, 2017
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Gregory G. Page, Sahil P. Dighe, Edgard Vargas
  • Patent number: 9240961
Abstract: A bi-directional VLAN bridging path is created on an edge switch in an MVRP environment without administrator intervention using a virtual network profile (VNP) feature running on the edge switch. The VNP feature is configured to detect a device coupled to a port of the edge switch, learn the Medium Access Control (MAC) address of the device on a MVRP-VLAN and automatically convert the MVRP-VLAN to a VNP-Dynamic-VLAN corresponding to a static VLAN to create a bi-directional VLAN Port Association (VPA) for the device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 29, 2013
Date of Patent: January 19, 2016
    Assignee: Alcatel Lucent
Inventors: Anil Nagarajan, Sandeep Kumar, Arvind Kubendran, Jagjeet S. Bhatia, Edgard Vargas

  • Publication number: 20150235543
Abstract: A network switch is provided that has an enhanced interface wherein an integrated circuit device is provided that facilitates the delivery of enhanced status information from the network switch. This integrated circuit, illustratively, a field programmable gate array (FPGA) or programmable logic device (PLD) such as a complex programmable logic device (CPLD), facilitates the delivery of enhanced status indicator information in conjunction with the resident networking switch semiconductor device (i.e., an Ethernet switch or PHY device). The enhanced status indicator information is conveyed using more LEDs (i.e., more than the resident networking semiconductor device contains by itself), and thus more information can be displayed and conveyed by such LEDs.

  • Publication number: 20140293827
Abstract: A method and apparatus for facilitating synchronization of network nodes in an MC-LAG (multi-chassis link aggregation) configuration. Each of two nodes communicate with each other in such a manner as to enable data traffic to be handled efficiently by either.

  • Patent number: 8625458
Abstract: The invention is directed to routing data packets in networks having routers configured as a virtual router using virtual router redundancy protocol (VRRP). Embodiments of the invention adjust route metrics to aid in providing predictable selection of routes into VRRP subnets. Advantageously, providing predictable selection of routes into VRRP subnets enhances a network operator's ability to meet service level agreements for critical or delay sensitive applications.
