Abstract: The present invention provides improved, more stable formulations of amlodipine maleate where the formulations comprise from none to a minimal amount of magnesium. Such stable formulations show decreased production of the impurity amlodipine aspartate. Accordingly, the present invention provides formulations of amlodipine maleate comprising lubricants such as sodium stearyl fumarate, dimeticone, macrogol 6000, hydrogenated castor oil, and stearic acid. Methods of making and using the improved formulations are also provided.

Abstract: A process for the isolation of the pseudomonic acid A antibiotic of pharmaceutical quality from the culture broth of one of the pseudomonic acid A-producing species of the Pseudomonas bacterium genus comprising the extraction of the biosynthesized pseudomonic acid A from the culture broth at acidic pH with a chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon or isobutyl acetate, followed by purification, is disclosed.

Abstract: A process is disclosed for the solution chromatographic purification of cyclosporin A from a starting mixture containing one or more of cyclosporin A, B, C, other cyclosporin components that are more polar or more apolar than cyclosporin A, and other like contaminants, by heating the starting mixture or an evaporation residue thereof to a temperature from about 80.degree. C. to about 115.degree. C., melting the heated starting mixture, and carrying out solution chromatography of the melted material, suitably first in a 48:50:2 mixture of chloroform, dichloromethane, and ethanol, and then in a mixture of like proportions, of the solvents chloroform, ethylacetate, and ethanol.
