Abstract: An oxidized carbon black (gas black) is prepared within the MCC (medium color channel black) area showing primary particle sizes of an average diameter of 16 to 18 nm and a content of volatiles of at least 15% which, as secondary characteristics, has a specific surface area (BET) of 300 to 420 m.sup.2 /g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black powder of 430 to 560 g/100 g, an oil absorption (stiff paste) conducted on carbon black beads of 370 to 450 g/100 g, a pH value of 2 to 5, a nigrometer index of 68 to 72 and a maximum content of volatiles of 25%. The carbon black is used as a pigment in high jet black lacquers.

Abstract: There is provided a carbon black concentrate of the following composition:______________________________________ Carbon Black 10 to 50 weight % Plasticizer 5 to 30 weightt % Nitrocellulose Compatible Alkyd Resin 0 to 30 weight % Nitrocellulose Staple Fibers 30 to 80 weight % Dispersing Agent Consisting of Metal Oleates or Metal Octoates 0.5 to 2.5 weight % ______________________________________The concentrate is useful as a pigmenting agent, e.g., for lacquers and printing inks.

Abstract: Modified silicic acids, gels, and silicates are produced by impregnation with a wax or a thermoplastic material, such as polyethylene. The silicic acids, silica gels, or silicates can be impregnated either as they are being formed or after they have formed by adding an aqueous suspension or dispersion of wax thermoplastic material to the silicic acids, gels or silicates. The mixture is then filtered, washed, dried, and finely ground. The organically modified silicic acids, gels, and silicates are useful as delustering agents in lacquer systems.
