  • Publication number: 20230390478
Abstract: The present aspect of the disclosure uses software to monitor the fluid amount used and available to a surgical system and may inform a user when the available fluid approaches a depletion threshold so a user may take appropriate steps to minimize impact to the surgical operation.

  • Publication number: 20230320897
Abstract: A computer-based automated phacoemulsification method is disclosed. The method includes determining a vacuum measurement based on a reading from a sensor coupled with an aspiration line; comparing the vacuum measurement to the at least one vacuum threshold; and providing an ultrasound power based on the comparison of the vacuum measurement to the at least one vacuum threshold.

  • Publication number: 20220313489
Abstract: A smart automated phacoemulsification surgical system for reducing variables significantly by introducing a relationship among related variables that share the same functionalities or where they depend on each other. The system optimizes power applied and and when the power reaches its maximum targeted value while the occlusion persists for an extended period of time. An automatic venting subsystem is configured to release cataract particles from the tip of the surgical instrument. An ultrasound power setting is configured to be reset to overcome power and occlusion stagnation in order to prevent applying too much ultrasound power and harming the eye tissues of a patient.

  • Publication number: 20220313488
Abstract: An apparatus, system and method of controlling the flow rate of an irrigation fluid. The apparatus, system and method include modifying a pressure gravitationally above the irrigation fluid in a fluid reservoir to increase the flow rate through a surgical pack by iteratively controlling infusion of gas to the fluid reservoir. The iteratively controlling comprises sensing an in-range response to said modifying, wherein the infusion of gas is enabled; and sensing an out-of-range response to said modifying. If, based on prior ones of said modifying: the out-of-range response poses no danger to a patient, the infusion of gas is enabled; the out-of-range response poses a substantial danger to the patient, the infusion of gas is disabled; or the out-of-range response poses no substantial danger to the patient, the iteratively controlling comprises applying a successive series of modifications to correct the out-of-range response.
