    Abstract: A DIMM connection system includes a pair of non-vertical DIMM first and second connectors (10, 12) head to head positioned on a printed circuit board (100). Each of the connectors (10, 12) including an insulative housing (14) defining a central slots (16) for receiving the card therein. Two rows of pairs of contacts (18) are positioned within the housing (14) by two sides of the central slot (16) for engagement with the card. A pair of ejectors (20) are disposed at two opposite ends of the housing (14) for ejecting the inserted card. The key (24) in the slot of the first connector (10) is aligned with that of the second connector (12) in a transverse direction. The pair of contacts (18) of the first connector (10) are aligned with the corresponding pair of contacts (18) of the second connector (12) in the same transverse direction.

A plurality of passageways (14) are formed by two sides of the slot (12) in the housing (10). A pair of supporting platform (16) are formed at two opposite ends of the housing (10). A pair of latch devices (22) are disposed on the corresponding supporting platforms (16), respectively. Each latch device (22) includes a plastic member (24) and a metal member (26) commonly deflectable with regard to the housing (10). A substrate module (100) is inserted into the slot (12). The module (100) defines a pair of notches (101) in two side portions and a pair of grounding pads (102, 106) respectively on both surfaces (104, 108) thereof around each of said notches (101).

Each of the contacts (24) includes a horizontal base (26), from which two beams (27, 28) respectively extend upwardly therefrom for mutually cooperative transmitting high speed signals, and a third beam (32) extends upward proximate the outermost end (34) of the base (26) for guidance and retention of the contact (24) with regard to the housing (12). A retention section (42) is positioned at the innermost end (43) of the base (26). Correspondingly, an retention wall (20) is formed within each passageway (16) for guidable and interferential engagement with the third beam (32) of the corresponding contact (24) in the passageway (16).

    Abstract: A high speed connector (10) includes an insulative housing (12) defining a central slot (14) with two rows of passageways (16) by two sides thereof wherein each passageway (16) receives a contact (18) therein. Each contact (18) includes a base (20) with retention means (24) for interferentially engaging the contact (18) within the corresponding passageway (16). From the base (20), a main arm (26) extends upwardly toward and into the central slot (14), and an auxiliary arm (28) extends upward spaced from the main arm (26) and also spaced from the outer wall (30 in the passageway (16). When the module (100) is inserted into the central slot (14), the module (100) first engages the main arm (26) and pushes the main arm (26) outwardly. The main arm (26) successively engages the corresponding auxiliary arm (28) aside and pushes the auxiliary arm (28) outwardly.

A floating spacer (22) is positioned on a rear portion of the housing without any latch devices fixedly fastening the spacer (22) to the housing (12). A plurality of convex bumps (25) are provided on the bottom surface (26) of the spacer (22) so that when the connector (10) is mounted to the PC board (100), the spacer (22) may generally seated on the PC board (100) due to gravity thereof, and the convex bumps (25) thereof provide a proper space between the spacer (22) and the PC board (100) for allowing the cleaning solution to escape therefrom.

    Abstract: An ejector for an electrical connector is disclosed. The connector includes an elongate housing receiving and retaining conductive contacts therein and two end blocks formed on opposite ends of the housing. Each end block has two spaced guide walls. The ejector includes a body received between the guide walls. Two slits are defined in the body of the ejector thereby forming two outside walls and an internal wall between the outside walls. Each outside wall forms a projection for releasably engaging with a recess defined in the corresponding guide wall of the end block. The slits provide the outside walls with resiliency for facilitating engagement between the projections thereof and the recesses of the corresponding guide walls while the internal wall provides the ejector with rigidity during engagement between the projections and the recesses.

The actuator includes a locking portion capable of extending through an indent defined on the partition to latch with a corresponding notch of the first substrate received within the second cavity thereby restricting the first substrate from moving along a third direction.

Three wedge like supports (20) are provided under two opposite ends and the middle portion (22) of the housing (12) so as to result in the central slot (14) extending upward and forward along a predetermined upward angle, thus resulting in a significant distance between the surface of the PC board (100), on which the connector (10) is seated, and the corresponding lower row passageway (32).

Each latch device includes a plastic member integrally extending from the housing, and a metal member cooperating with the plastic ember. A first plate of the metal member abuts against an outer surface of the plastic member and a first tang extending from the first plate, incorporates the first plate to confine the plastic member therebetween. The module can be released from the connector by applying an outward force to free ends of the latch devices. A second tang extending from the first plate abuts against the plastic member when the latch device reaches its outermost position thereby preventing over-extension and breakage thereof.
