  • Publication number: 20110011192
Abstract: Gear mechanism with a continuously variable gear ratio between an input shaft (1) and an output shaft (2), which has at least two pendulum arms (9) that are mounted to pivot around an axis (10) and that are offset into a uniform lifting motion (21) that alternately and mutually overlaps in the work cycles by the rotation of the input shaft (1) and the cam disks (7) that are connected to it in a form-fitting manner, and the arms convert by element of two adjusting parts (15) that can be moved along the pendulum arm adjustment path (20) or by element of two pendulum arms (15) that can be moved by the pendulum shaft (10) along the pendulum arm adjustment path (20) in the variable-length back-and-forth motion of the two gear mechanism elements (26), and this alternating motion is transmitted to the two couplings (27) that are dependent upon the direction of rotation, where it in turn converts into a continuous and uniform rotation of an output shaft (2), whereby each pendulum arm (15) under load is automatically

  • Publication number: 20020179037
Abstract: An internal combustion engine comprises a combustion chamber for cyclic combustion of a fuel while forming a combustion gas, a separate expansion chamber which is connected with the combustion chamber by a controllable combustion chamber outlet valve and which has a piston which is mounted so as to be displaceable for converting energy of the combustion gas into mechanical work and energy, and one or more compressor pumps which is/are constructed as piston-cylinder units for filling the combustion chamber with compressed air and which has/have, in each instance, an air inlet valve. The air inlet valve can be throttled and the volume of the cylinder space of the compressor pump or, in case of several compressor pumps, the total volume of the cylinder spaces of the compressor pumps is at least 25%, preferably at least 50%, greater than the volume for filling the combustion chamber with a mixture having an air-fuel ratio of &lgr;=1 with a quantity of fuel to be supplied under full load of the engine.

  • Patent number: 6449940
Abstract: The internal combustion engine comprises at least one combustion chamber for burning a fuel in timed explosions accompanied by formation of a combustion gas, at least one expansion chamber which is connected with the combustion chamber and separate from the combustion chamber and which has a piston for converting energy of the combustion gas into mechanical energy or work, and a cam gear unit by which a drive shaft can be driven by the piston and which has a cam disk and associated thrust member, wherein the thrust member can be lifted from the cam disk for carrying out irregular engine cycles independent from a continuous rotation of the cam disk, including a pausing of the piston of the expansion chamber at its top dead center.

  • Publication number: 20010039795
Abstract: The internal combustion engine comprises at least one combustion chamber (1, 1′) for burning a fuel in timed explosions accompanied by formation of a combustion gas, at least one expansion chamber (3) which is connected with the combustion chamber and separate from the combustion chamber and which has a piston (4) for converting energy of the combustion gas into mechanical energy or work, and a cam gear unit by which a drive shaft (32) can be driven by the piston and which has a cam disk (31) and associated thrust member (30), wherein the thrust member (30) can be lifted from the cam disk (31) for carrying out irregular engine cycles independent from a continuous rotation of the cam disk (31), including a pausing of the piston (4) of the expansion chamber (3) at its top dead center.
