  • Publication number: 20090254955
Abstract: A circuit, electrical device or other apparatus for band stacking and/or band translating multiple transmissions. Such transmissions may be satellite transmissions, terrestrial transmissions, signals carried across a wired network such as a cable network, and so forth. Two sets of left-hand polarized and right-hand polarized signals may be accepted by an embodiment. One left-hand polarized signal and one right-hand polarized signal may be band stacked such that the left-hand polarized signal occupies a first frequency and the right-hand polarized signal occupies a second frequency, thereby permitting the two signals to be transmitted simultaneously across a single transmission line as a first unique signal. The second left-hand polarized signal and second right-hand polarized signal may likewise be combined into a second unique signal for transmission. The first and second unique signals may be stacked as a first stacked output and a second stacked output by a band translating circuit.

  • Publication number: 20090172748
Abstract: An apparatus coupled to, or integrated with, a tuner. This apparatus, which may be referred to herein as a “compensator,” may operate to adjust a frequency of the tuner to counteract drift or error that may cause the tuner to erroneously tune to an inaccurate or undesired frequency. The compensator may be implemented as hardware or software, and may be stand-alone or integrated into the tuner and/or LNBF.

  • Patent number: 5959592
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for combining the video and audio signals from a satellite antenna with other auxiliary input signals producing a frequency stacked band arrangement for transmission by a single cable to a satellite receiver or TV monitor located within a home or structure. Multiple TV input signals from the satellite antenna are processed and separated into intermediate frequency bands which are then combined in a diplexer with one or more auxiliary input frequency bands. The output of the diplexer is connected directly to the signal output terminal at the antenna. All components for performing this combining process are included within the sealed housing of the LNB provided at the satellite antenna. Improved band isolation and reduced noise and interference are produced by the novel arrangement.

  • Patent number: 5790202
Abstract: An improved system for the integration of off-air and satellite TV tuners in a direct broadcast system, comprising a source of an RF television signal, a TV tuner coupled to the RF signal source for demodulating the RF signal and producing baseband video and audio signals, a satellite antenna for receiving a data stream including direct broadcast satellite signals, a direct broadcast satellite tuner coupled to the satellite antenna for converting and demodulating the incoming signals to video and audio baseband output signals. An electronic program guide is included as part of the data stream received along with the direct broadcast satellite signals. A microprocessor is coupled to the direct broadcast satellite tuner for conditioning the electronic program guide.
