The lining has sound deadening properties and is made of a plurality of lining modules. A method of manufacturing such a covering for acoustically excited surfaces includes the steps of forming a cover layer and lining the modules and applying the modules to the cover layer.

The molded part is self-supporting and has, in the direction of introduction, which is perpendicular to the plane of installation, a large bending stiffness by virtue of a flat, thin intermediate layer (3).
