  • Publication number: 20240118981
Abstract: Techniques are provided for failing over an aggregate from one file system instance to a different file system instance of a distributed scale-out storage system. The aggregate may be stored within distributed storage that is accessible to a plurality of file system instances of the distributed scale-out storage system. When the aggregate is failed over from a first file system instance to a second file system instance, the first file system instance may still have a valid read lease that allows the first file system instance to serve client I/O, directed to the aggregate, using a cache. In order to prevent the first file system instance from serving stale data from the cache before the read lease expires, state machines and a set of control data are used to ensure that the second file system instance attaches to the aggregate only after the read lease has expired.

  • Patent number: 6735278
Abstract: A method and apparatus for continuously presenting a sample from a stream of particulate material which contains crystalline substances and for effectively continuously analysing the sample by X-ray diffraction are provided. An extracted sample flow is fed onto a continuously moving carrier and its surface smoothed and flattened for X-ray diffraction patterns to be detected and analysed to provide a compositional analysis for the crystalline substances. The sample is continuously removed from the carrier prior to further sample being fed onto the carrier. The invention is particularly applicable for phase composition analysis of cement and cement clinker and provides an effectively continuous analysis substantially in real time in contrast to prior art laboratory analyses of discrete samples.

  • Patent number: 6369661
Abstract: A signal generator 600 includes oscillator circuitry for generating first and second signals having a selected phase relationship and an interpolator 610 for interpolating between a phase of the first signal and a phase of the second signal to generate a third signal having a phase between the phases of the first and second signals.

  • Patent number: 4153974
Abstract: A molding device for molding articles of plastic material such as ground raw meat to make hamburger patties and the like while at the same time limiting the maximum total pressure applied to the material. The device comprises a hopper for the material, a mold with a mold opening adapted to communicate with a pressure chamber for receiving pressurized material from this chamber and transfer means in the hopper for moving the material toward an exit portion of the hopper leading to this pressure chamber. In order to direct the material from the transfer means into the pressure chamber there is provided a pressure confining baffle in the hopper with sufficient clearance between the baffle and the transfer means to permit escape of material around the baffle back into the hopper.
