  • Patent number: 8733222
Abstract: A device for feeding a converting unit with a web substrate, the converting unit converting the substrate when stopped. The device includes a main drive roller rotating on a main shaft a main electric drive motor (14) rotating (T) the main roller (12), a satellite roller oscillating about the main roller (12), between upstream and downstream on the path of a substrate. Two lateral levers secured to the main shaft hold the satellite roller and are mounted on the main shaft. The substrate is maintained between the main and satellite rollers to change cyclically between a constant speed to a zero speed at the exit side of the satellite roller. • Patent number: 6976429
Abstract: A method for tightening an embossing plate ring on a chuck of a rotary embossing press, wherein the chuck is intended to be connected to a heater for leading the embossing plate ring to a working temperature. Between the chuck and the embossing plate ring is a split transmission ring made of a material having an expansion coefficient which is higher than that of materials used for the chuck and the embossing plate ring to cause the blocking of the embossing plate ring onto the chuck at the working temperature of the embossing plate ring.

  • Patent number: 6412378
Abstract: A cutting/scoring method for at least one row of adjacent flat elements (3a, 5n) in a material in strip form (1), of which at least one cutting edge (3′-5′) or scoring line, transversely of said strip material (1), is straight and extends from one edge of said strip material (1) to the other, consisting in passing said strip material (1) between cutting/scoring cylinders (R1, R2) of a rotary cutting machine. There is created along said cutting edge (3′-5′) or said scoring line respectively, extending from one edge of said strip material (1) to the other, at least one offset (k, &agr;) in the direction of transit of said strip material (1) so that said cutting edge (3′-5′) or said scoring line respectively does not coincide with the generatrices of said cylinders.

  • Patent number: 6397714
Abstract: The cutting cylinder of a rotary cutting machine has at least one radial needle for retaining waste projecting radially from its surface. A waste ejector has a rectilinear part parallel to the generatrix of the said cylinder and traversed by at least one slot coinciding with the trajectory of said radial needle for the passage thereof. A support has a first part secured to the frame of the rotary cutting machine, a second part secured to said ejector and connected to the first part by a guide defining a transverse trajectory relative to the edge of said ejector and intersecting said cylinder. An adjustment device moves the said second part along the transverse trajectory and an elastic connection exerts a prestressing of the second part on the adjustment device.

  • Patent number: 6350061
Abstract: This system for fixing and guiding a bearing (3) in a slot (5) in a frame (8) comprises elongate flat fixing members (14) extending straddle-fashion between the coplanar respective end faces of the respective uprights (6, 7) of the frame and of the said bearing (3). Extending through each of said fixing members (14) are three cut-outs, one of which is in the form of an elongate closed opening and the other two in the form of slots open at one of their ends, disposed at the respective two ends of the said elongate opening. A strip perpendicular to the said uprights (6, 7) is formed between said elongate opening and each of said open slots adapted to form in the said fixing member (14) two fixing lugs disposed on either side of said slot, one lug being fixed to the upright (6; 7) and the other to the said bearing (3).

  • Patent number: 6082733
Abstract: The disclosed sorting device, within a conveyor of plate-like workpieces, comprises a first lower rear conveyor (40) ending in a front wheel or roller (42) driven in rotation. It also comprises a second lower front conveyor (50) located behind the first and beginning with a rear wheel or roller (52) driven in rotation. It is also provided with compression device (30, 35) for pressing the plate-like workpieces against the lower conveyors, and a sorter (60) interposed between the front roller (42) of the first conveyor (40) and the rear roller (52) of the second conveyor (50), the sorter (60) having, in cross section, a corner facing the upstream or feed end of the conveyor, with a first side parallel to the normal path of the conveyors, and a second slanted side along an ejection path passing between the first and second lower conveyors. The device also comprises deflection means (26, 32) situated slightly above the front half of the front wheel or roller (42) of the first conveyor (40).

  • Patent number: 5685472
Abstract: A feed device for advancing a web into a processing station which acts on the web while the web is in a standstill position. The feeding device includes a first drive roller around which a second swivel roller oscillates between an upstream and downstream position to create a loop to take up the web during a dwell in the movement of the web through the processing station. The swivel roller is driven at the same speed as the drive roller by an arrangement of drive pinion and a counterweight is also rotated at the same rate by a gear arrangement. The counterweight is mounted on a lever which will oscillate in an opposite direction to the movement of the swivel roller so that the moment of inertias are balanced during operation of the device and the torque on the drive for the rollers is balanced.

  • Patent number: 5595335
Abstract: An infeed station comprises an eccentric roller fitted between two rotary plate around which a web-like sheet travels so as to have the sheet's speed transform from a constant inlet speed into a varying outlet speed according to the preconditions of the travel of the sheet in an operating cycle of the working station. The infeed station includes an infeed roller which guides the web-like sheet from the eccentric roller toward the working station, and this infeed roller is driven by an independent drive arrangement so that the peripheral speed follows the conditions similar to the outlet speed of the web-like sheet although remaining permanently at a higher rate.

  • Patent number: 5224423
Abstract: For fitting an offset printing plate on a plate cylinder, both ends of the plate are provided with a bent end portion designed for being hooked onto a wall of a groove formed in the cylinder. The distance along the plate extending between two bending lines of the bent end portions is less than the distance, in the wrap-around direction of the plate on the cylinder, between the two walls of the groove. A first bent end portion is held into the groove, the plate is wrapped around the plate cylinder with a second end portion held proximate to the groove, the plate is subjected to thermal lengthening until the second end portion is aligned with, and can be inserted into, the groove. The end portions are strategically bent to cause a spring locking action when both are thusly inserted into the groove.

  • Patent number: 5181468
Abstract: A device for controlling the operating pressure between the two rotary cylinders in a machine used for processing layers such as webs, ink films, or the like for instance on an offset printing machine. The device includes a pneumatic jack having an outlet rod of a piston thereof which acts to position each bearing supporting an end of a central shaft of a cylinder. When a chamber of the jack is subjected to pressure, the rod acts against the shift of the bearing in a direction which causes an increase of the distance between the two cylinders. A fixed, though adjustable, arresting piece acts against a shift of the bearing in a direction which would cause a reduction of the distance between the cylinders.

  • Patent number: 4618342
Abstract: A machine including a feeding group or station, a first rotative cutting or creasing station, a second rotative cutting or creasing station and a rotative stripping station characterized by a single drive motor driving the various rotating tools of the stations and a feed roll of the feeding station. Each of the first and second stations and the stripping station have a frame with two lateral frame members with each of the lateral frame members having a groove for receiving bearing blocks for the upper and lower rotatable tools and one of the frame members of each groove mounts a drive pinion in a fixed position relative to the groove and in driving engagement with a gear on the shaft of the lower tool. Each of the bearing blocks have the same outer dimensions with the axis of the tool being positioned in the bearing block depending on the size of the tool so that by changing tools, the gears of the tools always engage the same drive pinion.
