  • Patent number: 4381350
Abstract: A process for obtaining a dense ion-exchange anionic resin and the product so obtained. The resin is of the type based on a co-polymer of styrene and divinylbenzene. The process involves a liquid phase treatment comprising contacting the resin with bromide in a liquid phase and simultaneously charging the liquid phase with gaseous chlorine while in contact with the resin for reaction to provide a styrene divinylbenzene copolymer ion-exchange anionic resin containing bromine and chlorine groups.

  • Patent number: 4274969
Abstract: Processes for treating the waste water, particularly waste water containing certain unsaturated compounds, from acrolein and acrylic acid production plants to reduce the chemical oxygen demand (COD), which processes comprise polymerizing the unsaturated compounds, desirably with peroxygen compounds; neutralizing the waste water with a reagent forming polyvalent metal ions to provide salts of the polymerized compounds; and separating the salts so formed.

  • Patent number: 4025481
Abstract: This invention relates to a method for the preparation of aqueous dispersions of polytetrafluoroethylene comprising polymerizing tetrafluoroethylene in an aqueous medium containing a polymerization initiator and an appropriate emulsifying agent as well as other necessary additives in the presence of a stabilizing amount of a stabilizing agent selected to be a saturated halogenated acyclic or cyclic hydrocarbon containing less than about 20 carbon atoms or an unsaturated halogenated acyclic or cyclic hydrocarbon containing less than about 20 carbon atoms which is not copolymerizable with the tetrafluoroethylene under the reaction conditions, or a mixture of said halogenated hydrocarbons.
