  • Publication number: 20230405685
Abstract: A rotary cutting tool (10) has an axis of rotation (R) and a tool body (12) extending along the axis of rotation (R) and having at least one coolant channel (30). At least a portion (32) of the at least one coolant channel (30) is formed by a groove (40) in a circumferential face (42) of the tool body (12). Furthermore, the at least one coolant channel (30) in the portion (32) of the groove (40) is closed in the radial direction by an add-on part of the rotary cutting tool (10) attached to the tool body (12). Furthermore, a method for manufacturing such a rotary cutting tool (10) is provided.

  • Publication number: 20230294179
Abstract: A modular boring head includes a tubular main body having an internal thread with a first pitch and a pair of axially extending cantilevered members. A movable rod engages the tubular main body such that the movable rod is movable with respect to the tubular main body in an axial direction, D. The movable rod has an internal thread with a second pitch different than the first pitch. A leadscrew is disposed within the tubular main body and has a plurality of gear teeth. Rotation of the leadscrew causes the pair of axially extending cantilevered members of the tubular main body to cooperatively engage with the plurality of gear teeth of the leadscrew in such a manner so as to produce an audible and tactile click, each click being indicative of a distance the movable rod is displaced with respect to the tubular main body.

  • Patent number: 10646936
Abstract: A machining tool, in particular a drill carrier tool, includes a monolithic base body extending in the axial direction which, at least in one section, has a porous or grid-like core structure that is encased in a solid outer jacket. These measures allow less material to be used, while maintaining good mechanical properties. The porous or grid-like core structure is simultaneously used for transporting coolant. The base body is manufactured in particular by means of a 3D printing method.

  • Patent number: 10369636
Abstract: A machining tool, in the area of a tool tip, includes an integrated cooling structure for transporting a coolant. The cooling structure is optionally or in combination designed as a porous structure or at least one cooling channel having a bent reversing segment, so that two channel segments are oriented in opposite directions. The cooling structure is integrated into a base body of a carrier tool. According to a method of the invention, the cooling structure is manufactured by means of a 3D printing method.

  • Patent number: 9895751
Abstract: The cutting tool (1), especially drill or milling cutter, comprises a base (3) which extends in an axial direction (2) and has an outer shell (14) with at least one interior recess (18) that extends in the axial direction (2), a supporting structure (16) having at least one separating piece (26) which separates a plurality of recesses (18) from each other being formed in the supporting structure. The cutting tool (1) is particularly a solid hard-metal tool. The supporting structure (16) ensures an efficient use of material.

  • Patent number: 9724765
Abstract: The rotating tool, in particular a drill, includes a fluted cutting shank made of a resistant material, in particular carbide, extending in an axial direction along a rotational axis. Connecting to the cutting shank in the axial direction is an intermediate shank made of a material of greater elasticity in comparison the resistant material, in particular of tool steel. The intermediate shank includes an insertable cutting insert that may be exchanged. The cutting shank is preferably a cutting shank recycled from a used solid carbide drill.
