  • Patent number: 4424423
Abstract: A switching mechanism has disc cams arranged on a shaft for actuating switches positioned beside the shaft. The cam discs are adjusted exclusively by friction contact between these cam discs and at least one supporting member. The friction surfaces are held in contact with each other under pressure from a plate spring which is positioned outside of the pair of cam discs. The tension of the plate spring is selected so as to be great enough to ensure that the cam discs do not rotate relative to the shaft unintentionally, particularly when subjected to accelerations and impacts during operation. The tension is, however, at a level which allows a sliding adjustment of the cams with the use of a tool. The tension is preferably determined by the rate of the plate spring and a fixed axial spacing in which it is confined. This spacing is set, in the preferred form, by the length of a bushing of one support member that abuts an adjacent cam unit or an equivalent stop member.

  • Patent number: 4419646
Abstract: An electric proximity switch of the type that is inserted into the cylinder wall of a hydraulic cylinder and is sealed tight with respect to the hydraulic fluid, the proximity sensor having a pick-up coil (24), a pot core (32) adapted to receive the pick-up coil, a cup-shaped insert member (20) within which the pick-up coil and pot core are confined, and a closure disc (34) that is separate of the insert member and is positively retained in sealed relation over the insert member and its contents by securing means (10d) in the casing sleeve (10) of the proximity sensor.

  • Patent number: 4348568
Abstract: A switching mechanism has disc cams arranged on a shaft for actuating switches positioned beside the shaft. The disc cams are secured in a particular angular position in conjunction with an annular plastically deformable washer which has an unround aperture seated on a corresponding unround portion of the shaft and thereby locked to the shaft. The disc cam and the element are locked together by bending a region of the washer into a recess on the disc cam.

  • Patent number: 4238654
Abstract: Switchgear has switches 14 actuated by cam discs 16, 18 mounted on a shaft 12. The angular position of the cams can be adjusted, and they are then held in position by regions of a deformable material 52 which are bent into recesses 38 on a part fixed to the shaft 12. Cam discs 16, 18 are normally mounted in pairs and a friction disc 40 may be mounted between them.

  • Patent number: 4207507
Abstract: A signal generator for producing a control signal to control specific operations based upon the angular position of a rotating part in devices such as molding presses. An electrical signal related to the position of the rotating part is generated by using a potentiometer. The signal from the potentiometer is compared in a logic circuit to other adjustable electrical signals. Based upon the results of the comparison a control circuit provides the control signal. Furthermore, monitoring circuits are provided to detect any improper deviation in the electrical signals and upon detecting a deviation in an electrical signal the monitoring circuit provides an error output signal. An interrupter circuit is responsive to each monitoring device and disables the motion of the rotating part upon receipt of any error signal.
