  • Patent number: 6941337
Abstract: This invention relates to interactions when a subscriber requests services from a server. The invention captures a sequence of interactions among a mobile terminal, a network element, and a server. The network element, such as a gateway or proxy, is a transmitting network element with specific tasks between the mobile terminal and the server. The server provides the service that is requested by the subscriber. All these elements form interactions among themselves for performing the request. The sequence of the interactions forms a macro, which can be replayed later.

  • Publication number: 20050120091
Abstract: The present invention is based on a concept to provide session and profile management for network communication, especially over hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), employing available communication methods. Session and profile management is available and standardized for mobile communication by the means of the wireless session protocol (WSP) employable for wireless application protocol (WAP) communication. This wireless session protocol (WSP) is limited to mobile communication. The analog communication standard hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) available and standardized for wireline communication does not offer a session and profile management. The present invention offers a method to establish an analog session and profile management by the means of cookies or modified uniform resource locators (URL) even over the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) without requiring substantial changes to the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP) standard.

  • Publication number: 20030040341
Abstract: A method of browsing interactive data services with a wireless mobile device using a multi-modal technique for selecting components of an image. The method of browsing is particularly useful with mobile devices operation in accordance with Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) but is not limited thereto. A first mode of selection includes overlaying an image over a grid of cells on the display of the mobile device such as a mobile phone (FIG. 2). The cells are matched to a corresponding key on the keypad of the mobile phone. The user selects the cell containing the portion of the image of interest for further browsing by pressing the appropriate key. The cell contains a pointer to, e.g. a universal resource locator (URL) on the Internet, related information for retrieval and display on the phone. A second mode of selection includes using vocal identifiers matched to specific cells on a voice recognition capable phone or network.

  • Publication number: 20020080810
Abstract: A method and apparatus for concatenating data packets in a communication protocol is described, wherein a connection to be used for concatenation is allocated to a memory region based on which data packets received from said connection are stored in order to be concatenated. Furthermore, an activity information of the connection is provided, wherein the allocation of the connection is changed on the basis of the activity information. Thus, a cache of connections which are deemed suitable for concatenation can be managed by shifting and cancelling the memory regions allocated to the connections so that active connections which actually utilize concatenation are kept in the cache, while other connections which do not need the concatenation feature are purged from the cache. Thereby, a restriction can be placed on the number of connections that can take advantage of the concatenation, so as to limit the overhead produced by the concatenation feature.

  • Patent number: 6288641
Abstract: An assembly, and an associated method, by which to remotely monitor a surveillance area. Wireless microphones are positioned at selected locations in the surveillance area, and signals generated by the microphones are detectable by a controller. A mobile terminal operable in a cellular, or other radio, communication system forms a communication link with the controller and signals generated by the wireless microphone are routed to the mobile terminal.
