  • Patent number: 10894533
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sensing wheel torque of a highly automated driving (HAD) vehicle includes a wheel hub configured to rotate around a rotation axis as the vehicle moves and a brake caliper, including a brake pad, configured to apply a caliper force to the wheel hub. A reaction carriage is interconnected with the brake caliper and is configured to have a reaction force applied to it when the brake caliper applies the caliper force to the wheel hub. The wheel torque sensor includes a hydraulic chamber having a hydraulic fluid and a pressure sensor, interconnected with the hydraulic chamber, that senses pressure applied to the hydraulic fluid in response to the reaction force.

  • Patent number: 10611352
Abstract: A sensor device, active brake booster, and method for a braking system, including an active brake booster for carrying out/boosting an autonomous or partially autonomous brake pressure buildup, including an electronic device, which, at least during the autonomous or partially autonomous brake pressure buildup by the active brake booster, is configured, based on at least one deformation variable, provided externally or established by the sensor device, as to a deformation of the active brake booster, and/or a tensile force which effectuates the deformation and is exerted on a brake pedal, to output at least one activation signal to a warning display device and/or to a warning sound output device and/or at least one control signal to the active brake booster, to control the latter at least for a predefined first time interval into a safety mode or to interrupt the latter at least for a predefined second time interval.

  • Publication number: 20190084547
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting operation of a braking system of a vehicle. A system for detecting operation of a braking system of a vehicle comprises a microphone, and an electronic controller, configured to receive an audio signal from the microphone, wherein the audio signal is comprised of a sound caused by contact between at least one tire of the vehicle and a driving surface, generate a noise characteristic from the audio signal, compare the generated noise characteristic to a known noise characteristic, and generate a notification based upon the comparison of the generated noise characteristic to the known noise characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20170253225
Abstract: A brake booster for a braking system of a vehicle including: a valve body to which a booster force is transmittable, a reaction disk, and an output rod, situated on the reaction disk in such a way that the booster force is at least partially transmittable to the output rod via the reaction disk so that the output rod is displaceable in the braking direction, the output rod being pressable counter to the braking direction due to a counter force of a master brake cylinder of the braking system, and the valve body and/or the output rod being formed in such a way that a relative movement of the output rod, aligned counter to the braking direction with respect to the valve body, is limited by an impact of at least one first contact surface of the output rod on at least one second contact surface of the valve body.
