  • Patent number: 9488703
Abstract: An apparatus comprises an electrical device or component (40) and a radio frequency shield arranged to shield the electrical device or component. The apparatus is disposed in a radio frequency (Bi) field generated by a magnetic resonance scanner and in time varying magnetic field gradients generated by the magnetic resonance scanner (10). The radio frequency shield includes an electrically conductive sheet or layer having openings suppressing time varying magnetic field gradient induced vibration of the radio frequency shield.

    Filed: November 18, 2010
Date of Patent: November 8, 2016
    Assignee: KONINKLIJKE PHILIPS N.V.
Inventors: Eduardo M. Rey, Robert A. Harwell
  • Patent number: 8564291
Abstract: A robust MR compatible ECG monitor (40) includes a connector (50) for connecting ECG electrode leads (44) to an internal circuit board (52). The connector (50) includes connector pins (54) that run parallel to the circuit board (52) and tangentially contact solder pads (56) of the circuit board (52) at the edge of the circuit board (52), eliminating sharp or right angle turns in conduction paths. The connector prevents movement of the connections due to mechanical stresses in all ranges of motion relative to four degrees of freedom, including translation, pitching, yawing, and rolling.

    Assignee: Koninklijke Philips N.V.
Inventors: Mark D. Nelson, Eduardo M. Rey, Robert A. Harwell
  • Patent number: 8494620
Abstract: An electrode patch (40, 40?) enables securing five electrodes (E?, A?, S?, I?, N?) or six electrodes (V1?, V6?, LA?, RA?, LL?, RL?) in a predefined pattern. The electrode patch is configured for disposal as a unit on a subject (SUBJ) in a magnetic resonance (MR) scanner (8), and has a maximum electrodes separation (dmax) of at least 20 centimeters and not more than 50 centimeters. The predefined pattern enables 12-lead electrocardiographic signals to be synthesized from signals acquired by the five or six electrodes in the predefined pattern.

  • Publication number: 20120289817
Abstract: A subject monitor includes a belt (16) that circumscribes a cyclically moving portion of a subject (14), such as a chest cavity or abdomen. A optical sensing device (18) includes a housing; a tape (50) under tension to retract into the housing, at least one of the tape (50) and the housing are connected with the belt (16); a lens (56) configured to focus light on a pattern (52) that moves with the tape (50); and a photon detector (58) configured to detect light (57) reflected from the pattern (52). An optical decoder (26) determines movement of the belt (16) from the light reflected (57) from the pattern (52).
