  • Publication number: 20100051887
Abstract: A wire strainer has a ratcheted spool rotatably attached to a frame to rotate in a desired direction when tensioning and able to freewheel otherwise. At least one oval/elliptical hole in the shaft accommodates one, two or more wires therein in a particular orientation on the shaft. The oval/elliptical hole is adapted to be dimensioned and positioned on the shaft such that the integrity and strength of the shaft is not compromised or lessened. A projection and a two plane guide means can be situated on the spool whereby the projection is positioned and engages with a portion of a wire and the two plane guide is positioned and assists in deflecting the length of wire not engaged with the projection away from the projection as the spool is rotated during the straining of a wire. Y-shaped reinforcing ribs on the frame provide strengthening and rigidity while tensioning.

  • Patent number: 7392013
Abstract: An exciter system (1, 2) able to communicate information between an exciter unit (10) and one or more remote units (12) or between multiple exciter units (10). The exciter units (10) may include wireless type exciter devices, such as optimum exciters (14), or they may include wired equivalent type exciter devices, such as direct connect exciters (16). The exciter devices (14, 16) inject or extract RF currents (24) in the metallic framework (22) of a vehicle. The remote units (12) couple electromagnetic fields (26) with the metallic framework (22) of the vehicle. The information is exchanged with the exciter devices (14, 16) by communications equipment (20) that modulates or demodulates the RF currents (24) and/or electromagnetic fields (26) with the information. As the RF currents (24) and/or electromagnetic fields (26) reach everywhere within, on and in close proximity to the vehicle the information is communicated throughout.

  • Publication number: 20080036472
Abstract: Embodiments according to the present invention provide an Impedance-based Arc-Fault Determination Device (IADD) and method that, when attached to an electrical node on the power system and through observations on voltage, current and phase shift with a step load change, determine the effective Thevenin equivalent circuit or Norton equivalent circuit at the point of test. The device and method determine the expected bolted fault current at the test location of interest, which enables calculation of incident energy and the assignment of a flash-hazard risk category.

  • Patent number: 7165424
Abstract: In order to provide a method of manufacturing a glass panel which, in time of a baking process, restrains an internal stress generated in both of glass plates (1, 2) to prevent a decline in strength, and restrains inorganic and organic substances remaining within a void (V) defined between the glass plates (1, 2) to prevent deterioration in quality, a method of manufacturing a glass panel comprises the steps of executing a joining process for joining the pair of glass plates (1, 2) opposed to each other across the void (V) at peripheries thereof by using a low melting point glass (4) in a melted condition, executing a baking process for suctioning gas from said void (V) through a suction portion disposed in said glass plates while heating said void (V) defined between the glass plates (1, 2), and sealing said suction portion to seal said void (V), wherein the gas is suctioned from said void (V) with said low melting point glass (4) being in a softened condition in which a coefficient of viscosity thereof is 1

  • Patent number: 7081178
Abstract: A method of constructing a glass panel which comprises two confronting edge sealed glass sheets, the method comprises the steps of providing a solder glass band around the margin of one surface of each glass sheet, forming, at a first temperature, an hermetic bond between the solder glass band and the associated surface of each glass sheet, positioning the glass sheets in spaced-apart confronting relationship, forming, at a second temperature which is lower than the first temperature, an hermetic seal between the two solder glass bands whilst maintaining the spaced apart relationship between the glass sheets.

  • Patent number: 6896071
Abstract: A drive system for driving a sheet pile member at a desired location in the ground. The drive system comprises a source of pressurized air, an actuator system defining a drive axis, and an adapter member. The actuator system comprises a housing assembly having an inlet port connected to the source of pressurized air and a piston member adapted to move along the drive axis relative to the housing assembly. The adapter member is rigidly connected to the housing assembly. The adapter member further defines at least a first pair of first and second guide slots. In use, the sheet pile member is arranged at the desired location. The adapter member is arranged such that the first and second guide slots at least partly receive portions of the sheet pile member. The pressurized air causes the piston member to move along the drive axis.

  • Patent number: 6676786
Abstract: A method of and apparatus for evacuating a chamber, for example in vacuum glazing, that is enclosed in part by a glass wall that includes an evacuation port. An evacuating head is employed and is arranged to cover the port and a portion of the glass wall that surrounds the port. The evacuating head has a first cavity that communicates with the port and at least one further cavity that surrounds the first cavity. The first and further cavities are connected by conduits to respective vacuum pumps, which apply differential negative pressure to the first and further cavities, and the chamber is evacuated by way of the first cavity. Evacuation of the chamber may be effected whilst the glazing is subjected to high temperature out-gassing.
