    Abstract: Techniques are provided to support fast frequency hopping with a code division multiplexed (CDM) pilot in a multi-carrier communication system (e.g., an OFDMA system). Each transmitter (e.g., each terminal) in the system transmits a wideband pilot on all subbands to allow a receiver (e.g., a base station) to estimate the entire channel response at the same time. The wideband pilot for each transmitter may be generated using direct sequence spread spectrum processing and based on a pseudo-random number (PN) code assigned to that transmitter. This allows the receiver to individually identify and recover multiple wideband pilots transmitted concurrently by multiple transmitters. For a time division multiplexed (TDM)/CDM pilot transmission scheme, each transmitter transmits the wideband pilot in bursts. For a continuous CDM pilot transmission scheme, each transmitter continuously transmits the wideband pilot, albeit at a low transmit power level.

    Abstract: This invention is a hybrid steam & combustion rotary engine designed to use combustion to drive a piston in a continious unidirectional circle within a sealed toroidal chamber. Combustion drives the piston(s) and the heat is utilized to create steam by water injection to induce cooling & extra thrust on the piston(s) within the toroidal chamber(s). Magnetically sensitive pistons are magnetically coupled to a drive axle through the nonmagnetic chamber walls, eleminating the need for combustion seals within the pressure chambers. Tempreature & piston locations are monitored by common tempreature and magnetic sensors located outside the toroidal chambers. The valve opening & closings, as well as ignition, water & fuel injection, are controlled via a common micro-processor.

    Abstract: Techniques for tracking closely spaced multipath and preventing finger merge without monitoring relative positions between each of a plurality of fingers are disclosed. In one aspect, motion limits are determined for each finger. Time-tracking commands that would move the position of a finger outside its respective motion limits are suppressed. In another aspect, motion limits are updated dynamically, the motion limits of each finger determined in accordance with the motion limits of fingers adjacent to it. Various other aspects are also presented. These aspects have the benefit of preventing finger merge, which allows the allocation of multiple fingers to closely spaced multipath, thus increasing performance and system capacity, and mitigating misallocation of system resources.

    Abstract: A window treatment holding system having an elongated pocket member defining a pocket profile, or structure, in which a bracket is received in a snap-fit arrangement. The system is capable of generally concealing the mechanical portion of a window treatment and includes the bracket being designed to carry the head rail of a conventional horizontal or vertical blind, or a drapery rod or channel. The pocket member can be of a variety of configurations and can be fastened over a window, in the ceiling, fastened to the wall or window frame adjacent the window, or incorporated into the window mullion head. Various pocket profiles are provided, some designed to be concealed from view, and others having decorative external portions for providing an aesthetically appealing appearance. The pocket member could be molded or extruded as a part of a window frame or the window mullion head. Also, the pocket profile can be created using a pocket adapter and snapped into place in a conventional mullion cavity.
