Publication number: 20080256128Abstract: System and methods for source documents management in clinical trials are described. One described method comprises receiving a clinical trial form on a client device over a network from a server device, the clinical trial form comprising a plurality of form data fields; receiving structured clinical trial data associated with at least one of the plurality of form data fields; receiving unstructured clinical trial data; and transmitting the structured clinical trial data and unstructured clinical trial data to the server over the network.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 10, 2007Publication date: October 16, 2008Applicant: Clinical Ink, LLCInventors: Douglas Edward Pierce, Thomas Willard Littlejohn

Publication number: 20080094474Abstract: Digital cameras are calibrated so that detailed highlights and shadows in scenes being photographed are reproduced in digital images of those scenes by calibrating holographic data obtained from target images at those scenes. In one embodiment the target image is obtained from an actual target having black and white, and optionally gray, target areas; and in another embodiment, the target image is obtained from the scene being photographed. In both embodiments, histographic data is manipulated so that shadow and highlight data spikes are automatically placed in boundary areas by automatically adjusting lens aperture and/or shutter speed prior to taking the desired photograph of the scene. The resulting photograph is adjusted for highlight and shadow details.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 24, 2007Publication date: April 24, 2008Inventor: Edward PIERCE

Patent number: 7218474Abstract: An assembly includes a housing with a base. A mounting pad is positioned on the base. The assembly also includes a micromechanical device coupled to the mounting pad. First and second side rails extend from the base to form first and second rail corners. The first and second rail corners are subject to striking a surface. The first and second rail corners have first and second elevations that are uneven to reduce impacts reaching the micromechanical device.Type: GrantFiled: June 10, 2004Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Seagate Technology, LLCInventors: Peter Roman Janik, Matthew Wesley Jones, Glen Edward Pierce, Fei (Peter) Wang, Liyang (Leon) Zhao

Patent number: 6207312Abstract: A self-humidifying polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell assembly has an ion-exchange membrane interposed between hydrogen and oxygen diffusion layers to form a membrane electrode assembly (MEA). The MEA is in turn interposed between a pair of current collector plates having flow field channels for flowing the reactants adjacent the respective diffusion layers to produce corresponding anodic and cathodic electrochemical reactions. Various embodiments of the assembly incorporate one or more of the following features: interdigitated flow field channels, countercurrent reactant flows, opposing channel alignment, and uncatalyzed membrane hydration enhancement zones.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1998Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Energy Partners, L.C.Inventors: Robert Kenneth Wynne, Jay Kevin Neutzler, Frano Barbir, Vladimir Gurau, Walter Edward Pierce, III

Patent number: 5058078Abstract: A well logging system includes a digital threshold crossing data generation system (TCDG System) disposed in a well tool, adapted to be disposed in a borehole, and a digital first motion detection (DFMD) software disposed in a memory of a well truck computer. The TCDG system generates a series of threshold crossings for each analog signal received from a receiver of the well tool, the threshold crossings including a plurality of threshold crossing events for each analog signal and representing compressed versions of digitized analog waveforms. The well logging truck computer receives the threshold crossing data from the TCDG system and executes the DFMD software. When the software is executed, a first set of compressional wave first arrival times are determined from a startup routine in the software using the threshold crossing data.Type: GrantFiled: August 13, 1990Date of Patent: October 15, 1991Assignee: Schlumberger Technology CorporationInventors: Kevin A. Eyl, Andrew L. Kurkjian, David J. Lineman, Edward A. Pierce, Joseph M. Steiner, Jr.
