  • Patent number: 6260084
Abstract: A modem and associated method with both an RS-232 interface and a USB interface connects to a host. The modem detects which of the two interfaces is connected to the host and determines an appropriate data path. For connections to the USB interface, data is routed through a USB processor and over a serial link to the modem processor responsible for modem communications and the transfer of modem data to the POTS. The serial link between the USB processor and the modem processor is used to transfer both modem data and processor communications. A plurality of control lines are used to indicate the type of data being transferred over the serial link. For RS-232 connections, the modem data is transferred to the modem processor. Thus, one modem device may be used for either USB or RS-232 connections.

  • Patent number: 5912967
Abstract: A speaker-phone assembly includes a speaker assembly, a microphone and an outer shell. The speaker assembly includes an upper lid, a bottom cup, and a speaker. A gasket may be positioned between the lid and cup, a C-shaped gasket may be positioned around the rim of the speaker to isolate the speaker from the lid. A plurality of brackets including gaskets extend from the cup and are received by posts extending from an interior portion of the outer shell to isolate the speaker assembly from the outer shell. A microphone stand having an inner region connected to an outer region by at least one web portion isolates the microphone. The microphone is positioned upright and in a plane substantially perpendicular to a plane which includes a rim of the speaker.

  • Patent number: 5687387
Abstract: An active port replicator, adapted to be connected to a portable personal computer, enables the portable personal computer to be relatively quickly and easily connected to a plurality of external I/O devices, such as a printers, a full size video monitor and the like in a desktop application and readily disconnected from the external I/O devices for portable applications. The active port replicator replicates all of the ports on a typical portable personal computer and may provide additional ports, such as an additional type PS/2 port, for added convenience and flexibility. Once the desired external I/O devices are connected to the active port replicator, the active port replicator may quickly and easily docked to a portable personal computer for desktop application and disconnected for portable application.
