    Abstract: An automated check cashing system comprising a customer station, an operator station, and means for enabling two-way communication between them. The customer station includes a cash dispenser. Means are provided for enabling the operator to verify the identity of the customer and the check that is being submitted for cashing. If the operator does not cash the check, it is returned to the customer. If the check is cashed, it is stored in a vault until it can be retrieved.
