  • Patent number: 5836611
Abstract: A one piece laminated air bag has an inner layer of sheet material, a middle layer of load carrying fibers and an outer layer of sheet material. The load carrying fibers are laid in a pre-specified pattern such that a majority of loads in the air bag are carried by the fibers. The method of manufacturing the air bag includes an inflatable mold which is inflated to the required configuration, covered with the various layers and deflated after the laminating of sheets to form the one piece laminated air bag.

  • Patent number: 5429459
Abstract: A threaded hole (20) in a workpiece (22) is formed by rapidly spinning an elongated tool (24) having a drill point (64) at one end, at least one longitudinally extending flute (80) having thread milling faces (84) for milling the thread to be formed, and wherein the tool (24) is first moved axially to carry the drill point (64) against and into the workpiece (22) to form a hole (66), then is displaced radially a distance equal to the thread depth to be formed, then is moved orbitally around the hole (66) to mill threads therein, then is displaced back to the center of the hole (20) and then is retracted from the hole (20). To form a helical thread in the hole (20), the tool (24) is shifted axially one thread pitch during the orbital movement. A thread milling drill head (26) is disclosed for chucking the tool (24) and shifting it through the aforesaid movements.

  • Patent number: 5282707
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fastening system comprising a nut with a locking threadform and a nut driving system which visually marks the locking nut when the proper torque is reached. The locking nut with a locking threadform has been designed so that the major diameter thread of a typical bolt will engage a wedge ramp portion of the nut threadform thereby resisting unintentional loosening. The nut driving system of the present invention comprises a wrench socket wherein the socket contains a ball set; when the socket is used to tighten the locking nut, it visually marks the nut head when the proper torque is reached.
