Patent number: 10760937Abstract: A system includes a container having an inner chamber for storing fluid, at least one measuring probe arranged within the chamber and one ground probe arranged within or near a bottom of the chamber. There is at least one impedance electrically connected with a processor which is electrically connected with the at least one measuring probe. A signal generator has a first voltage terminal electrically connected with the at least one impedance and a second voltage terminal electrically connected with the ground probe. When a signal is sent from the signal generator to the measuring probe, an electrochemical reaction occurs at the measuring probe and ground probe and stores a charge if the measuring probe and/or ground probe are immersed in fluid. The processor measures the voltage, current and power of the signal to calculate the resistance and capacitance of the fluid within the container to determine the level of fluid in the container.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 2018Date of Patent: September 1, 2020Inventor: Edward Bender

Patent number: 9449270Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for implementing structural plasticity in an artificial nervous system. One example method for altering a structure of an artificial nervous system generally includes determining a synapse in the artificial nervous system for reassignment, determining a first artificial neuron and a second artificial neuron for connecting via the synapse, and reassigning the synapse to connect the first artificial neuron with the second artificial neuron. Another example method for operating an artificial nervous system, generally includes determining a synapse in the artificial nervous system for assignment; determining a first artificial neuron and a second artificial neuron for connecting via the synapse, wherein at least one of the synapse or the first and second artificial neurons are determined randomly or pseudo-randomly; and assigning the synapse to connect the first artificial neuron with the second artificial neuron.Type: GrantFiled: January 16, 2014Date of Patent: September 20, 2016Assignee: QUALCOMM INCORPORATEDInventors: Jason Frank Hunzinger, Michael-David Nakayoshi Canoy, Paul Edward Bender, Victor Hokkiu Chan, Gina Marcela Escobar Mora

Publication number: 20100071635Abstract: A one-piece tube for use as a watertube within a watertube boiler or heat exchanger has a free end section that is formed to have an integral, outward-extending circumferential ring, or flange, a spaced distance from an adjacent end face of the tube. A boiler is provided that has an elongate header and a plurality of separate watertubes each having an intermediate section and opposite end sections. An end section of each watertube is connected to the header. The intermediate section of each watertube has a substantially constant outer diameter along its full length and is closely spaced to adjacent watertubes within the combustion chamber. At least one of the end sections of each watertube has a transition that reduces the diameter of the watertube as it extends from the intermediate section to an outwardly-extending circumferential flange. This arrangement permits close spacing of the connection sites of the watertubes to the header and permits the connection sites to be provided in a linear array.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 6, 2009Publication date: March 25, 2010Applicant: BURNHAM HOLDINGS, INC.Inventors: Thomas Wayne MOORE, Edward A. Publication number: 20090200436Abstract: The invention relates to a control console assembly with a hand rest. There is a need for a control console hand rest which reduces the possibility of unintentional throttle control lever movement. A throttle control lever projects above a console deck. A dome projects from the deck. The lever projects through a slot in a center portion of the dome. The center portion and a first side portion of the dome are connected together by a side wall which faces towards the center portion and lies in a vertical plane. A thumb-receiving recess is formed in a second side portion adjacent to the slot. The deck includes an upper deck and a lower deck. A depression formed by a finger of the lower deck extends around an end of the first portion and is bordered by a side wall. The depression can receive and support part of an operator's hand.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 11, 2008Publication date: August 13, 2009Inventors: Christopher David Finck, Bruce Kevin Fryk, Dean Arden Boyce, Scott Edward Bender

Publication number: 20070251684Abstract: A one-piece tube for use as a watertube within a watertube boiler or heat exchanger has a free end section that is formed to have an integral, outward-extending circumferential ring, or flange, a spaced distance from an adjacent end face of the tube. This is preferably accomplished by radially expanding the tube within the free end section and by axially compressing the free end section to cause a portion of the tube to bulge radially outward to from the circumferential ring, or flange. The flange enables the watertube to be readily driven into engagement with a dome, manifold or like casting without the creation of leaks, such as weld leaks. The free end section of the tube that extends from the circumferential ring, or flange, to the adjacent end face of the tube can be formed with a taper such that the diameter of an outer wall of the tube progressively decreases from the circumferential ring, or flange, to the end face.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 27, 2006Publication date: November 1, 2007Applicant: Burnham Services, Inc.Inventors: Edward Bender, Thomas Moore
